I can’t believe manufacturers would make it this hard just to convert your dryer to side venting. I think it’s ridiculous you have to completely take apart a new dryer. This was a great video though, thanks for making it

A couple of points. I wanted to get a new LG gas stackable. Many videos including this one say you cannot vent to the right (facing front of unit) if it is a gas unit. I called LG and waited on hold with their tech dept. They were completely worthless and had NO IDEA what I was talking about. Why would anyone design a dryer that cannot vent to the right because they ran the gas line in line with where the vent needs to go. I think GE units can vent right AND have an easy access panel on the back which makes it simple.

Matt's a rock star of dryers. God lord! 1) Disassemble dryer. Check. 2) Swap vents. Check. 3) Rebuild dryer. Fail.

Holy crap! Why can’t the manufacturers just provide a removable access panel in the back?

Very good video, gives me more confidence when working on thru the rear hole. Also construction code requires the metallic tape on vent pipes, I would imagine that inside the machine you should use metallic tape also.

I need to do this on an LG model DLE7100W, which is different from the dryer shown in the video. Is the process the same, i.e., removing the drum, etc.?

I side vented my LG dryer recently. There is wiring that runs under the side vent. I wrapped the wiring in electrical tape and then with dryer vent rated tape. Has anyone else noticed the wiring close to the warm vent tube and made a mod?

in july 2018 for the first time did the side venting on my new LG dryer first under no condition should you use duct tape buy a roll of metal tape made for heat very cheap in big box store 2 nd there is no need to take apart a brand new in perfect condition dryer unless your hands are so big you can not get them in the vent holes take of both side vents and the back vent is already off and you will be able to do it that way and buy the kit dont cheap out the right angle is already sealed at the joints and fits perfectly also the the connection to the back vent has a screw hole to hold it in good luck no duct tape please

Hi, Are you saying this kit is easier to install by taking the whole dryer apart first???
@appliancepartspros
@appliancepartspros 6 лет назад
There are often a number of ways to install parts, this is just the one we've chosen for this video. Sometimes parts can be installed with less disassembly, but you'll have less room to work and less visibility, so it depends. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Will the 90 degree elbow fit through the vent hole? If it will, would it be easier to assemble the elbow to the two straight duct pipes, tape them then insert it into the dryer?

no reason why it can't be done that way; just a bit more challenging to tight the screw which locks the initial tube in place.

I was wondering if you could help me out, do you sell the original exhaust vent that goes straight out of the rear of the machine? It was altered to vent out the side in the past, BUT I want to vent it out back to how it originally came from the factory ( It wasn't me that misplaced the original vent lol :) ). Any input would be greatly appreciated... Sincerely Jason Would this be the part for a LG SteamWasher to convert it back to the rear vent? www.appliancepartspros.com/lg-duct-assembly-5209el1006a-ap5071385.html The dryer is Electric if that matters, NOT Gas...

You can go to our website and enter your appliance model number to view the parts breakdowns to be sure you get the correct part for your model and see if this exhaust tube is listed. www.appliancepartspros.com/

Wait, that wasn’t satire?! You’re actually serious?! Well then MAN! Since you had to go down to bare bone, at least use a couple of screws to the elbow and use aluminum tape! The tape that you used is called duct tape but it’s used on anything but ducts…
