Two questions mate. How do you pack in the slate ? Do you hammer the slate in after the padstone and engineering bricks dry over night than hammer in the slate ? Also any gaps between the existing brickwork above and top of the steel. What do you pack that with ?

Hello mate, so you can set steel to height on props and brick up under, then the following day if there is a gap pack it with slate, if the gaps bigger than thickness of slate then you can dry pack, slate or metal shims are good if you need to get props down same day. Above steel lay a bed of bricky mortar on top and then jack steel up, or brick up as usual.

@Paul Jamie Construction - Nice one mate thanks. The dry pack mix, what should the consistency be like ?

Nice work but it was a handy size. Our RSJ is twice as long. A red fretton under the RSJ at one corner? Why not a concrete brick?

To be fair , yes the steel was manageable. We built engineering brick pads under the steels
