I’m going to show you and explain each exercise in detail, teach you the correct techniques and also things to avoid doing. You can also do these workouts at home. So if you’re a beginner and you want to start lifting weights, but unsure where or how to start, be sure to watch this video through.
1) Dumbbell Squats
Muscles: Glutes, hamstrings, quads and core.
Weights: Between 5 - 8kgs each or more.
2) Alternate Overhead Lunge
Muscles: Glutes, hamstrings, quads, core & shoulders.
Weights: Between 5 - 8kgs
3) Bent-Over Row
Muscles: Back & Biceps.
Weights: Between 5 - 8kgs
4) Chest Press
Muscles: Chest, Shoulders & Triceps.
Weights: Start with 4 - 6kgs each.
5) Bicep Curl to Shoulder Press
Muscles: Biceps, Shoulders & Triceps.
Weights: Choose something lighter but not too light, between 3 - 5kgs each.
6) Tricep Kickbacks
Muscles: Triceps.
Weights: Go for a lighter weight, between 2 - 4kgs each.
7) Reverse Fly
Muscles: Upper Back & Shoulders.
Weights: Go for lighter weights, between 2 - 3kgs each.
8) Full Extension
Muscles: Upper & Lower Abs.
Weights: Between 4 - 6kgs.
9) Russian Twist
Muscles: Core and Obliques.
Weights: Between 4 - 6kgs.
Perform all 9 exercises as a Total body strength-training workout in about 45 minutes. Follow them in the sequence I’ve laid out in this video. Aim to perform between 12 - 15 repetitions per exercise. If you can do more than 15 reps, then the weights are too light and you need to increase them
If you are an absolute beginner, then complete 2 sets for each exercise before moving on to the next exercise. As you progress, aim to complete between 3 - 4 sets.
If you’re looking to buy dumbbells, as a beginner, I’d recommend buying 2 pairs of dumbbells. One heavier pair, between 5 - 6kgs each and another lighter pair, between 3 - 4kgs each. It’s always better to buy a heavier pair because then you can train and progress into lifting heavier. You don’t have to spend your money on buying really light dumbbells, because you can easily make them at home using water bottles.

​@@bts-stuff5353 I think I am late but It means repeating that particular exercise 15 times. Then pause for sometime (rest) and do it 15 times again. So 2 sets of 15 reps each.

I have never done weights before but I want to burn fat. How should I start with dumbbells? I have 1.2kg each side? Will this gain muscle but loose the fat?

@@nadiaakhtar9443 hey sis. You can start off light and perfect your form. Then go onto heavier. I just feel it really tones and sculpts the body and research says more muscle mass in the body burns more calories even when not working out. So the more muscle you have the more you are burning calories. But it is important to get rid of the fat at the top so cardio and eating clean is always important. Plus weights are fun I think x

She is a great instructor, especially for obsolete beginners. The way she explains so plain and simple, so that prevent the injuries which beginners could make. Everyone on RU-vid talks a lot but shows nothing, except Joanna! I was clueless, but now at least I know how much weight I could lift for instance and how:) Joanna please make a strength training video for the people who have hypermobility syndrome. Hey! I dont think is good to start with 5-8 kgs actually. Start with 1 or 1,5kg and when you feel you it gets easier, you can try 2kg or more. You dont want to get injuries

Everything was secure and in good shape. No weird smells. The weight changing mechanism is really smooth and straight forward. Changing weight is really fast and easy. Though the handle is plastic, I don't think it will be breaking anytime soon. So far pretty impressed after my first session with them. I was afraid they were going to be too wide at first, but I didn't have any issues with them while doing upright rows.

My parents are not allowing me to lift weights (because they think girls shouldn't ) . So I'll have to hide from them and do it. It's gonna be hard. But I'm gonna get through it get the body that I want and finally be happy !!

Rebecca Rocks If you’re a minor thing you should do what your parents say because if they find out you might get in trouble and they might not trust you again. Instead maybe talk to them and compromise. Tell them you won’t lift very heavy weights and see if that works but don’t do the stuff behind your parents back because you don’t want to lose their trust

Awesome workout video! I'm a recently retired 63 yr old guy starting to get back into shape after a long sedentary career. I have watched a couple dozen dumbbell workout videos over the last few weeks and this is the best I have found to help me accomplish what I am trying to do. I have it bookmarked and I step through it during each workout. Much appreciated!

I found this video 3 days ago but had a huge effect on my life. At first I started to use the right method to lift weights. And I noticed in my everyday life I use these instructions. When I lift something heavy automatically keep my back flat, avoid rounding my shoulders, lift my chest, and use only my arms instead of my whole body. My posture is better and I feel the result of the weightlifting. I am really happy I found this video even it was uploaded 4 years ago.

I have been into Yoga for almost 7 and a half years now. Recently saw your work out video with weights on youtube and ordered one set of 3KG and another set of 5KG dumbbells. I have been following this along with my Yoga practice and the results are really showing. My weight has come down to 70 Kg from 73 Kgs and I do feel a lot energetic after the workouts and infact my core strength and Yoga poses have also become better due to this. Thank You for this brilliant video and I do try to see your other videos as well to enhance my practice.

thank you so much I've just begun trying to start lifting weights and it is almost impossible to find a good instructions for a beginner plus I'm an older woman you not only tells me how to do it but you showed me how to do it thank you so much perhaps you can tell me one more thing that's very difficult to find out how many reps and circuits of each exercise should we do as we begin and progressed along no one ever tells you that
