Let's talk about how to be happy and how to live like the happiest people in the world. Danish people are known to be some of the happiest people in the world. This is exactly what I needed today. I’ve been struggling a lot with anxiety lately due to a knee injury and then having surgery. Every new season, I make a bucket list of things that I would like to do in those 3 months to embrace that season. For the past few years, rereading The Little Book of Hygge has always been on my autumn bucket list. I love that book so much, and I have travelled a lot, but Copenhagen, Denmark, is my favourite city ever. Danes know how to live.

Being danish i think you're describing the term so beautifully, and Hygge is such an integrated part of the Danish culture. We use Hygge in school, at work, at home and it is just everywhere! I watch your videos all the time (which for me is Hygge). According to your videos it seems that you love learning. I think Denmark has much to offer in terms of learning to "Hygge" a little bit more every day

In the winter, I keep the curtains open and lights off all day. The snow creates a natural, bright, joyful light from the thick overcast sun, thus cracking down on winter depression. I spend quite a bit of time outside doing farm chores, so I get that cold, brisk, refreshing air in my lungs. I sometimes go on hikes in the pine forest next to our cottage when we aren't in a polar vortex haha. I do spend most of my winter indoors, living slowly and cozy. Once the sun goes down, the cozy lamps come on, and the curtains close, settling in for the long, slow night. Hot meals, thick blankets on the couch, using my preserved produce I grew in summer, long, hot baths, lots of books, embroidery and knitting, etc. My life naturally flows with the seasons, without really thinking about it.

You are right! You have been doing Hygge all along! I do most of the time too and read this book, others plus looked at comforting Hygee Videos. I just bought a paper bag full of Honeycrisp Apples same as your candle! My favorite apple! Your videos have been so soothing especially last few years. I been with you since day one! You are very relaxing for me and shine bright! Yes! Outdoor Hygge video and more indoor Hygee videos as they will relax us and yours. Love what all I watched in this entire video! Xo 💝🙏 Forgot to say I am signing up to your news letter and I have knitted my own socks for my self, my husband and few toddlers. It has been long time 2012 since I knitted, painted, cooked big time everything. That was a huge part of my life. One day😉🙏

You did a great job describing it. Not even Danish people (I am a Dane myself) really knows how to translate Hygge - or even how to describe it properly. Not even in our own language. It is just this cozy, wonderful feeling you get and then you just know ☺️ It has no boundaries (place, time, materialistic things or people you are with) - but it is often easiest found when you are indoors on a cold day with some candles, something nice to drink and eat, and with your closest friends and family in a really informal way.

Love this! Finally, there's a word for the feeling I'm always striving to create! The other day (after I did a little damage on a hand made ceramic mug haul from my local artist co-op) my husband asked "Why do you love pottery so much and why do you insist on drinking your coffee out of it every morning?" To answer him I had to weave a story and try to explain the feeling it brings me. But now I can just answer "Hygge." P.S. I bought the book before the video even ended haha

Great Christmas present. A little hygge gift basket a mug and hot chocolate maybe some warm socks or slippers or a throw blanket. Make up your own ideas but this is a great idea for Christmas. Don't forget the book!
