We move approx a thousand bikes each year & found that the best way is use four straps two at the rear two at the front. Best to come off the lower end of the forks that way you won't have any pressure on fork seals over a long journey, rear straps off pegs or frame holds bike a lot more stable.
@AlwaysGrinding24
@AlwaysGrinding24 Год назад
Good info I'll consider switching up the fronts. Where would you strap on the rear for bikes like v4's that don't have much frame exposed on the rear for tie downs and no pegs?

Nice job brother. This is the way to do it. I have to figure a setup now for my new Ram 2500. It's lifted another inch and I need the tailgate to close because I'm pulling a travel trailer and need the turning clearance. Have to load my 1199S when going to track and camping. This means I have to load back at an angle with front wheel tucked in the driver bed corner. I already have the 3 x 9ft Titans (awesome ramps) which used to load bike onto a utility trailer. Have Condor chock. Hope I can figure this out. Edit: Think I might have figured it out for my case with pulling TT and require tailgate up. Load bike in head first but position chock slightly more to driver/left side as much as possible still having distance from left tire hump in bed then pick up bike rear wheel and swing to the right and hopefully enough to have bike rear tire clear closing the tailgate. Will need to try this method.

I use to be nervous about the back wheel but I've taken my Ducati from Minnesota to Arizona and Arizona to Minnesota and have even done some off-roading with the Duc in the bed without any issues ever. I bought the 3-ramp version for my Harley and was very concerned about the ramps sliding apart as I rode up them into the truck. There is no way to join them to make a solid piece. I shimmed the spaces with 1/2" wood blocks and drilled 5/8 holes and bolted them together in 3 spots to make it a more rigid ramp. It takes longer to assemble/disassemble, but much safer. They should have offered a tie rod that joined the sections for safety. Great video BTW!

Nice . No drama like that. I have always used Uhaul trailer specific to cycles . And they work. Today I am using an enclosed trailer so I’m looking for tips. Gotta say your is by far most intelligent system. It was actually mentally painful to watch some loading fails . Scares me that I share the planet with these nimrods . They are too brave vs lack of common sense. You can see it ain’t gonna work. They go ahead anyway.

I would recommend putting cones out if your front end has to be in the roadway, and to tie your laces up tight like an adult. Loose footwear is a recipe for disaster when loading equipment. ** Edit: not to come off negative, you did a really great job otherwise. I think ratchet strapping those ramps to the hitch is the smart move, too. Can't be too sure. Good on you for investing the money to do it correctly.

What tilt trailer do you have
@peterschmidt7543
@peterschmidt7543 Год назад
@@AlwaysGrinding24 Having said what I did simply comes from a need for being fuel and transport effective a thing that many Europeans have to be for various reasons. There are plenty trailers out there that can angle down the ‘platform’ for any kind of smaller machine or vehicle like a bike to just drive up on it without a ramp. However trailers often have a very “jumpy” suspension so it’s important to strap the bike allowing it to rely it’s own suspension. Tightened straight standing, strapping looped through the wheels. Being a craftsman never buying anything not needed or if in case make it in shop. Have found out using trailer is for the most better for nearly anything keeping ware n tare down on the car and also makes everything more optional. Ok those things shown look good, seem to have some q but iron horses are supposed to have a rider not a driver/transporter. 45yrs on the roads now, intercontinental rider. (the US was nice).
