There are 2 ways to load your shoulders, one is for the "Power Transfer Element" from the body to the arms, hands and club, and the other is the "Shot Intention" e.g Fade, Draw, Straight...Here is some rare footage ‪@TravisFultonGolf‬ interview with Pete Cowen, Travis asks Pete the question "How do you load your shoulders Pete" [4.01s]
Look out for Part 2 coming soon where I will break all this down for you :-)
We have all seen and tried the drill with the towel tucked under the armpits which is great for control and especially practicing short game, but the problem is when you try the same drill for long shots as Pete mentions there is great control, but no power..? Why?
Because you need to load the shoulders, very much like a boxer would to deliver a knock out blow, it's all to do with the shoulder movement, rotator cuff, lats and triceps. You also need to load the shoulders on the correct plane depending on what shape of shot you want to hit e.g Fade, Draw, Straight etc...
If you like my content, please show your support and pick the latest NXT-GEN GForce Swing Trainer, the super flexible shaft will help you with Swing Path, Timing, Rhythm, Tempo and much more + lots of free training and support...
Trusted on PGA tour since 2016 and used by Rory McIlroy and Pete Cowen and his team, it's the strongest most flexible shaft in the world, you can hit balls flat out..!
Now the only USGA approved "Standard Weight" swing trainer in the world and legal to carry and play on the course, it looks feels and performs just like your regular clubs, so you can easily transfer swing training feels back over to your regular golf club for quicker results.

What a load of truth 😂 I always know if what i hear is right ,if the person talking can explain in simple terms something that may be complicated but i can understand chances are he knows what he's talking about .

Travis is a great coach in his own right as well! Miss him down at TPC Sawgrass.

Pete Cowen doesn't waste words. Everything he is saying he repeats in other videos. His swing starts with his grip..once you do these drills you will see. Spend 5 to 10 minutes a night. you will see the difference.. And use the Gforce.. amen.

After listening to Cowen i would add one more system to his race car metaphor: the electrical system. We need healthy transition of electrical signals to our muscles (the spark plugs, etc). Problems with discs, pelvis, or sacrum in our backs interfere with these signals even when we’re not feeling pain. It’s probably why Tiger doesn’t have >20 majors, and it’s why I, and many golfers, can’t break 88. - and it’s NOT DUE TO AGE. It’s also one of the most neglected health conditions, unfortunately, due to the massive amount of B.S. perpetuated by the health industry that keeps us in the dark about the awesome surgeries available today to fix back problems.

And then you'd need a radio playing some nonsense music and dj rattling on to represent your mind chattering away while you try and constant fix your swing.

He actually talks about this at length in one of his videos about how to practice away from the course and get hundreds of repetitions in. There is a set of videos he does with Pyramid in the title, 3 parts. There is a couple interesting parts in the first, but the second and third are enlightening. Worth watching. He’s pretty famous for the loading of the shoulders, spinning right arm, and more of a spiral twist of a turn than what is usually described. Well worth watching.

I wonder how many amateurs would have strong enough shoulders to have this kind of control. Golf is a very physical game. Unfortunately, a lot of amateurs think the long game can be improved in a couple of lessons. This is great content.

I went and saw Fred Couples play a Champions event in Houston in 2022. His shoulders are extremely broad.

Yet many of the great teachers Toski, Flick, etc. say the arm swing turns the shoulders, they shouldn't be the focus.

If you watch some of his RU-vid videos it actually makes great sense. A lot is being left out.

He is just confusing us. For an average golfers like us he should explain in simple terms what is or how to load my shoulder for the fade or draw. Ie does loading meant flex or relax my shoulder

He is not very good in explaining in details of what he meant. Try to search for how to load your shoulder for draw or fade. He just assumed that we knew. Can someone explain in layman’s term what they meant please.

My god, Pete Cowen is a boring listen. I've heard him riff on the car engine analogy so often it makes me cry

Interesting but totally in exploitable for an amateur. Not sure if the point of this. I like cowen but get him on the course not on a videoconference
