Knowing the information and knowing how to quickly find the information are two different things. Electricians do not have to know everything, but you must know how to find the answer. Good video.
I agree 100% & becoming an electrician is what made me put that into perspective! I worked with this guy, called his self Legend, but I never knew if he could use a code book or not. He was an industrial electrician.
@@ElectricalCodeCoach Hi, sorry but I need guidance from someone. I'm using Canadian Electrical Code Book-Part-1 of 2021, 25th edition but I could not find any of these 3 methods. Is the code book you describes is different?
I was taught the plan build used theory. Where the code book is broke up into three sections the planning section the building session and the using section The planning section is 0 all the way up to 300. Building is 300. And the using section is 400 and above. And in class with our practice questions I got down to an average of a minute and 46 seconds on the multiple choice questions.
I have asked MANY guys who works in electrical trade about how to read the NEC Code book? You're the only one who explain it SOOOO EASY in many methods to fide what we're looking for or the answer of the question So I will give you a Nonillion likes !!!

Experienced an arc flash in front of my face today and I’ve just watched so many videos about protecting myself, but for some reason watching your video made me feel safer than everything else. I appreciate this video and commend you for helping people navigate the book in order to find the safest and correct methods.
I'm sorry to hear that bro oh, I've experienced it is very scary. Glad that you're enjoying the channel I'm here to help you anytime just email me at electricalcodecoach@gmail.com
I'm not going to lie, idk how I am in my last year of schooling and I am not very strong or confident using the NEC, tommorow my class is taking a practice masters test and this has actually helped me ALOT. thank u
Interesting, I’ve been doing the reverse look up method with out even realizing , this video helped me a lot! I’m taking my journeyman this month I’m preparing for the big day.
I m a 4th year apprentices and going to school at the moment. Our instructor does not allow us to mark or tab our NEC. I feel that class is not to efficient although our instructor is an inspector for the city and is extremely knowledgeable. We meat twice a week for 3.5 hours. We take a 10 question quiz every time we go to class. But spend the rest of the time going over PowerPoints of articles, makes me feel like I'm waisting time. I work 10 hours a day and would like to know how many hours per day should I study for the Exam? I'll be able to apply for the test around April 2023 in CA. Like your videos and truly helps with Test Anxiety. I share your videos with all my classmate's.
Great, amazing video, any chance you could do another video on a few different varieties of questions instead of just looking for a table? Tell us when to pause so we can look for ourselves and then when we find it or can’t find it we resume the video and you break it down for everyone? This is great help, I’ve been studying now since late April (over 3 months) 5-7 days a week over 2 hours a day and very efficient with finding most questions but sometimes struggling with the math, does anyone by any chance know how many math questions there even are on the test? I believe it is a smaller portion of the test . Thanks Again!

Shew! I cannot imagine doing it without a personal code book. The way I picked up speed was by working on using the keyword and index process and mastering it. You can do it!
@@ElectricalCodeCoach I have always wanted to see a good introduction to WYE & DELTA motors explaining what they are, why we use them, how they work, etc...its an advanced subject that I have never found a simple explanation on.
@@ElectricalCodeCoach yeah I've done alot of research and one thing that I found is there doesnt seem to be an easy explanation so series would probably be easier to stay on track lol. Thank you!!!
Would you care to explain the steps you would take to find the answer to a more difficult question? Q. A ________ is a premises wiring system whose power is derived from a battery, from a solar photovoltaic system, or from a generator, transformer, or converter windings, and that has no direct connection, including a solidly connected grounding circuit conductor, to supply conductors originating in another system. a. separately derived b. classified c. direct d. emergency In addition, please note the reference in the code book. Thank you!

I’m trying to find an answer in the code book. To wire an apartment building in NM, what’s the threshold of the amount of floors that the building has, to be wired with NM and at what point would it have to be in MC cable? I think the answer is NM can be used to wire a building 10 floors or less, if it’s taller it needs to be MC

Seems like anyone can go ahead and take a Journeyman Test using these methods and pass with little to no studying involved considering how long they give you to take the test
@@ElectricalCodeCoach Thanks man, these can definitely help me out. But I'm in a bit of a pickle here when it comes to applying for a Journeyman certification exam. I've gotten into electrical from my uncles and pop and worked with them since I was 16. It's been 6 years since I started this trade as a "trainee" or an "Apprentice". All the jobs I've worked with them before was always paid under the counter rather than the checks they give their other employees. So technically I have no SSA report that proves I've worked the amount of hours necessary to start on my Journeymans exam. I'm no rough in monster or NEC code book nerd but I know enough where I can get to work without having to ask anyone for directions or assistance. So basically my question is, is there a way I can get my journeyman card without going through the hassle of building up my SSA report detailing all the hours I've done? I really don't wanna start from scratch so I'm hoping there's another way I can get through this.
Hey thanks for the comment! You can pick up the 2017 NEC at this link electricalcodecoach.com/shop/ols/products/2017-nec-paper-back-code-book And pick up the 2020 NEC at this link electricalcodecoach.com/shop/ols/products/2020-nec-soft-bound-with-tabs-and-free-shipping
Test doesn’t make no sense if your in the field, you should always carry your NEC code book and take your time doing research, when it come to electrical better take your time make sure everything is wired correctly and by code. Is not how fast you know the code is how you understand the code and apply at the field.
Louisiana doesn’t allow tabbed books. Actually, they don’t allow anything. They give you a code book, calculator, & paper. Way to suck at another thing, LOUISIANA!
