@Caleb Farrell I TOTALLY agree! It wasn’t a forever thing. It was something I needed to learn and practice for a period of time so that I could move forward with my life with a new understanding of calories and nutrition. This comment was made 2 years ago and I spent about 8 months calorie counting and tracking until I felt I had a good enough handle on it to stop and now 2 years after my original comment, I can look at my meals and make rough estimates about what I’m consuming and that helps keep me on track. I don’t weigh or track anything anymore and I eat what I enjoy without feeling guilt because I can mentally balance things now. Spending the time to learn the skill of properly calorie counting and weighing my food has allowed me to live a happier and healthier life today and not stress over the unknowns because I have a solid base knowledge :) Hope this makes sense, have a great Friday!
@Caleb Farrell no, not for everyone but after you do it you understand how much dressing is reasonable on your salad and that you can have a sundae but a small will do and if you want pizza eat it but it’s better if you don’t have a burger and fries for lunch and pancakes for breakfast along with it. There’s power in educating yourself
Love this video! It came at just the right time for me as calorie & macro counting has become an obsessive source of stress for me that has been causing a lot of water retention and the development of an eating disorder. I’ve just recently started tracking only during the week and taking a break on the weekend. One day I hope to be able to intuitively eat without putting on weight and instead lose a few lbs. This video is a valuable source of information and I would love to see the next video on how many calories I actually need to be eating for fat loss or even maintenance.

intuitive eating before learning calorie counting is why i’m overweight 😂 i absolutely have to track at least a little bit to be in the ballpark # of calories to eat in a day and keep myself grounded
I used to intuitively eat and that's why I'm overweight also! Now do intuitive eating but the quality of food is different with intermittent fasting... down 30lbs so far
You definitely should do the video on calculating what calorie consumption is good for each individual. Also slightly disagree with Snape being “good all along”. I think he strove in his post Death Eater days to be the best human he could be but Snape was a complicated man who dealt within both the light and the dark and some of it was within selfish reasoning. Hey Jordan! Thanks for all your amazing and funny videos. One of the most common things I notice about weight loss coaches etc are they they are mostly geared to the younger population. It is definitely a challenge being middle age and having been through a roller coaster ride of diet fads that were not sustainable. Also, I live in the arctic region for work where food choices can be limited. That being said you have helped me get back on track with a plethora of choices and mind sets. Keep doing what you are doing and I will hopefully continue my journey! Namaste! 🙏

I have several clients that can’t deal with counting calories. They can’t deal with myfitnesspal. I always tell them that they have to track first. Most of them are not happy about it. I normally try to have these clients doing Intermittent fasting and eating low calories, high volume foods. It works at least half of the time.
@@Tarabyte Same! I just really like to know how much I've eaten, partially because then I make sure I eat enough. XD If I don't count, I tend to overcompensate and eat too little, or ban snacks

I take your “make a video on how many calories i should eat” and raise you to “make a video explaining how to count calories”. It’s something has a “hardgainer” that i struggled for life. I admit that i jumped to dumbledore status since i don’t know how to track calories. I wanna pack muscle but i also packed some fat along the way. I would like to just put in a request for all the videos on all the topics!! Thank you for reinforcing what I’m doing. I needed to calorie count in the beginning, I needed to learn what serving sizes actually were, I needed to learn where I was eating unnecessary calories. It also helped keep myself in check, it’s easier to say no if you have to put all the shorty food your eating into the But after a few months I stoped...it is a lot of work and was becoming obsessive. It also showed me that on some days I was eating far too little and feeling like garbage. At one point it was 900-1000, I felt tired and weak all the time. This go around I don’t need to count. Have lost around 9lbs (62.5 total), and I’m not counting calories at all. I feel sooo much better than I did a year ago (when I was eating far too little). Eating the proper amount of calories, while still being in a deficit enough to lose weight, has helped a lot with binge eating. Thank you for all you do and all the education you provide!!! I wish I had found you years ago.
i don't count calories, never did and i am getting better at managing my weight by generally knowing the nutrition (macros, micros, unhealthy stuff e.t.c.) in the foods i eat, by being mindful of what i eat always,by having 2-3 meals and 2-3 snacks a day. by weighing my shelf for the last 5 months twice a day, comparing my diet to my weight and i am getting better at it, the last 2 months i did not exceed my max allowable weight (if i go above that that i go for a fat loss period for a few days, and i know about fluctuations i learned it the hard way) ! i remained between 70 and 75 kilos ! now i have a general idea about how many calories are per 100 g in things but i don't know how much grams i put (especially cuz i avoid processed foods), finally i pick satiating healthy foods so that i am full as possible a few hours after a meal.

I don't know how I've missed this since I watch all of your videos, but I'm grateful this was a suggested video for me today. I'm trying to cut, which I've done successfully three times in the last two years, but for some reason my ED is flaring really badly right now. We're supposed to do an InBody at my gym for our 8-week "reset" we do every year, but I've opted out because I'm not in a good place for that right now. I know I've got a good 15-ish pounds I could stand to lose just for health's sake, but staring at calories all day is giving me major wiggins. I know how to do this. I just need to break away from looking at calories for a little while, and this is a good reminder that it's totally possible.

This Hufflepuff is getting married in October and really wants to lose about 10% body fat! Would really appreciate the the video on learning to know how many calories I would need to eat to lose weight! Also very much appreciated this video! Todo lo q dice en el video es verdad. Un ejemplo es mi caso, tengo 2 meses aprox contando calorías pero estos últimos días empecé a enfadarme de tener q apuntar cada ingrediente de todo lo q como. Mas q aprender a contar calorías es aprender a calcular con vista y la única manera de calcular con vista es contando calorías de cada alimento q consumas no hay de otra. Para mi se podría decir q me es algo fácil porque no soy muy drástica en mis comidas o ingredientes q uso día a día. Mis tres comidas “fuertes” por así decirlo son masomenos lo mismo( proteína y vegetales. Los desayunos pueden variar) los snacks es lo q mas me cuesta por que como a la mayoría nos pasa siempre tenemos antojo de algo diferente cada día. Ya que sabes a q peso quieres llegar y cuantas calorías debes de consumir para tener ese peso, tienes q contar calorías forzosamente para aprenderte las porciones de cada platillo visualmente y créeme después de estar meses apuntando cada detalle o peor aún q no todos los alimentos en myfitnesspal son correctos en la tabla nutricional y optas por agregar tus alimentos y rellenar calorías, proteínas, vitaminas y todo eso correctas y correspondientes a lo q estás comiendo Si o si te lo vas memorizando ya q es trabajo del día a día. Da flojera en veces la verdad si pero si fuera fácil todos tendría el cuerpo q tanto desean! Cada esfuerzo tiene su recompensa!

BTW, You are absolutely correct that you need to learn how to count calories! When I first started counting, I had NO IDEA how much I was actually eating!! You can eat very few meals a day and rack up quite a few calories if you aren't paying attention. It is vital!!
