This was literally everything I needed to hear today. Thank you to both of you for having this conversation on this public platform.... huuuugggggssss!!!🙂🤗🤗🤗
I’ve been in my fitness journey for 10 month and this have been one of the most educational videos I have watched. It resumes almost everything I’ve been learning the hard way thorugh out this months. Thank u so much for these type of content.
I am a huge Mind Pump listener and fan but the way Sal presented today on your podcast was fantastic was spot on and so easy to understand going to share this one for sure💪🎉😊
Came here from Mari's insta 🙌🏼 I used to have 100kgs a year and a half ago, then I started doing kickboxing 3x per week and then added last year April strength training 2x per week. I wasn't that strict with food but I did watch a bit more and ate healthier. I've seen such good results, lost over 20kgs and still have more to go but... I gained muscle, sculpted my body to the point that I do not care about how much weight I lose. I just wanna feel better and stronger. It's sooo annoying to hear people telling me to DO MORE CARDIO to lose weight and not focus on weight lifting... Now, you talk about studies how it says completely opposite and I needed to hear this sooo so so much. 😫 I still don't wanna get rid of cardio bc I like it but this made me sure that my workouts actually work... I think I will stick to kickboxing bc I love it and sometimes during gym days a bit of running and elliptical for 10 mins but focus those 2 hrs on body building 🤗 Thank you for this ❤
You guy’s and your information is absolutely amazing and making a difference in my life and if you have reached one person which is me, I know that there are others being reached. Thank you for caring enough about people to want to spread the knowledge to the world ❤
Wow! I’m currently on a journey of health, fitness and self care and this episode was really what I needed. Informative, empathetic and eye opening. Thanks a lot to Stefano for coming on. He seems like a great fitness and life coach. Great episode!
First time listening today , I’ve followed MP for the last 12 months , Sal is wealth of knowledge in the fitness space , Good show The current podcast space is full of health & wellbeing shows but most have a lot of nonsense , I hope Pursuit of wellness pursues a more honest approach, Looking forward to the next episode, Best wishes Mari
I just read an article that says the best method for reducing body fat and body mass is aerobic training, while resistance training alone did not reduce body mass or fat mass. This is almost the exact opposite of what Sal said, very curious to know what article he was referencing?
Maybe showing my age - but Love Paul Chek! Took course from him (in person) and he may be a bit out there...but nothing he has taught has ever led me negative or down the wrong path - only positives! And when Paul said that he paid & flew Robin McKenzie up to spend a week with him so he could learn how keep the spine safe during daily activities, training, and during sports - I knew Paul was legit. Don't know who he is? Look & Learn!
55:00 not true that fast weight loss is less sustainable than slow weight loss. That's a common myth. Martin MacDonald discusses this all the time. if anything, the motivational advantage of quickly losing weight makes it a better option. but no matter how people lose weight, they nearly always put it back on. The speed is irrelevant
I can lose a lot of weight fast by cutting my cals to 1200. The problem is I spent 48 years doing that and gained it back everytime and then some. It's called yo-yo dieting and is very real. Since I calculated my daily caloric expenditure and subtracted 500 cals my weight loss is a lot slower and I feel I can sustain a 1650 daily intake until I obtain a 25 to 30 lb loss. Then once there, I will learn what the perfect maintenance amount is and carry on. It is all about knowing what your body needs ( at 60 yrs old, I don't burn as much as I did in my 20's that's for sure) no one can tell me what my body does unless they are in my shoes and my age group. I learned this all by research and trial and error. Yes I was obsessed with obtaining a bikini, but now I just want to be healthy and happy. I calculated my macros to help with keeping on track which is easier for me while learning to eat more than I am used to. I do 110gms carbs, 130gms protein and 71gms fat to hit my caloric daily goal. I work out at the gym 3 to 4 days and do 2 home workouts a week in between. I have dumbbells for home. I walk 10,000+ steps per day utilizing zone 2 cardio ( for 30 min of those steps) I calculated my bpm. I know this form of cardio burns fat more efficiently for my aging body. I always knew that weight lifting was the best form of exercise. I read Arnie's workout encyclopedia back in the late 80's ( that was all I could find on the subject, there wasn't much out there for women then) I moved on to Bill Phillips and did the Body for Life Challenge in the early 90's. I really appreciate Mari for her contribution to the information highway, an advocate for women in this industry for sure. I hope to see more out there around weights and 60+, it isn't rocket science true, however it does come down to science and the art of self awareness. Just to 2 cents. 😅
Love this episode but the hunter gatherers part I question because the hunters tribe are already are lean body and would burn less calories due to low body mass, the average western coach potato has more fat on them so they would burn more calories naturally whatever type of activity they do. If that makes sense xxxx❤
I’m sorry I can’t even withstand the first five minutes of this interview because of the fact that she is exploiting her body in a tube top and I think that’s disrespectful to the entire conversation overall and I just feel bad for self having to sit there in deal with that when he’s married it’s just awful and wrong and gross.
