You guys are so cool. I am converting to Catholicism and just started taking the RCIA classes. Watching both of your videos makes me so excited to be a part of this community.

Rev Fr. Mike is so modest....he's not just reading the bible, he's making the most confusing stuff so interesting. I am so addicted, I listen to the same podcast several times in that day. I'm in New Zealand so I wake up and an so excited to turn on the next one.....

I have been loving the Bible in a Year podcast! I’m not Catholic, but have followed Matt Fradd, Trent Horn and many others and have learned a lot over the past year. Thanks Father Mike for doing this. And speed 1 is perfect. Anything higher is way too fast! 😁

My husband and I started listening to the Bible in a year for lent and will continue because it is so great!!! We are learning sooo much!!! We also just saw a series called “the Bible series” here on RU-vid for free (it came out many years ago) but it all makes sense to me now how it all connects. That podcast opened our curiosity and now we want to learn more. I think I will now order the Bible that he uses from Aucension presents to read along and highlight...etc. Also I agree with Matt when he explained why we sometimes don’t read the Bible, that was exactly me before the podcast, but now I want to read it again and again. I think I just needed some guidance.

We have been listening to the podcast as a family every night at bedtime. It’s been amazing. Sure the kids sometimes don’t listen and act like kids do but they are still hearing the word of God before they sleep every night and I’m very thankful. Love you both!

Listening to the Bible in a Year podcast has been a beautiful way to commute 20 minutes to work. More than once I’ve been moved to tears by the time I pull into the parking lot. Fr. Mike’s reading style brings the story to life. It’s full of emotion. And his comments are very insightful. So meaningful.

THE LIVING WORD OF OUR LORD GOD IS SO MESMERIZING AND ADDICTIVE. CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT.

I think you guys are really nice guys. One of the few things I thought about was when you (Father Mike) mentioned how those with psychiatric disorders spend so much time denying and avoiding the realities of their issues. I think anyone whether they are mentally ill or not can struggle in avoiding realities in their life. To me there is a huge amount of ableist thinking within us and in society still today. I think we need more support in creating a safe and accommodating environment where everyone is supported based on their specific needs and not just for those who are neurotypical. I know for me I was in denial of my Schizoaffective disorder but that wasn't my fault either because that is part of my illness. But I was given so much support thank God and I have been able to move forward in my life. We need advocates for those who are in denial not based on how they are at fault for what they are doing but based on the care they need for their illness. People who are in denial with a psychiatric illness like mine need to feel safe so that they do feel comfortable sharing their struggles and getting the help they need. And I try to be an example to people in my life who actually don't have a psychiatric illness (but may have a personality disorder ) who are in denial by the way they treat others and themselves. Thats what really matters the most. I see myself back when I was ill and I wasn't doing anything to hurt people. I was just delusional so like Jesus said "Forgive them Father for they know not what they do". For those with personality disorders they do have some more awareness of what they are doing and how it's hurting others. But they still don't know to the fullest extent how they are hurting themselves by hurting others. With people like that you can't convince them to stop. You have to lovingly detach and live your life in the most loving and positive way. And sometimes God let's them see that and they make a choice to address why they aren't that way of positivity. By sharing our light in the world we heal the world from hate, and the seperation from God and others. Hopefully this was understandable. God Bless.

In minute 31, I would interpret the "passing it" as being translating and passing it along to others. Even though I don't know Arabic, I wish more Catholic resources would be available in Arabic for a few reasons. For one, the Christians in the Holy Land tend to know Arabic. Secondly, Muslims learn Arabic because that's their religion's official language, regardless of whatever their native language might be. The more resources that are available in Arabic that can be accessed electronically, the more we can tap into a very large number of people who aren't Catholic. Some Muslims are just curious, especially while COVID limits many other interactions, and some of them have dreams or other things that draw them to the faith.

As a Protestant on the pathway to Rome, I already love the Bible. The challenge for me now is to love and receive the sacraments. Matt, I'll pay handsomely for one of those mugs.

You don't feel the way you think you should feel when you do read it and then you think you're reading it wrong and you don't want to feel like a failure....etc wow. So insightful and honest. I think many of us feel that way about the Bible and so many other things in our lives. You are in a class by yourself. Just love your work. Thank you for this episode. As for “boredom” “doesn’t make sense” etc - yep, those are the devil’s tactics. Those things WILL change! It will begin to make sense and become interesting. Trust me. so you guys are watching sit coms and i sit here enjoying watching multiple episodes of you guys.lol. but my comment ok i was born in 48. so that grew me up in the latin mass. i am very glad about that. i have my aunt's old missal from 1916. the referencing helps. but i frequent the mass all over the world. i watch fr mikes, i watch the pope's,, i watch the one from lourdes, i watch several from france. my french is wobbly but i can understand what they are saying. i am trying really hard to stick with the spanish because in california that is a plus. my puzzlement is that some of the french are in a combo of both french and latin and they frequently recite the confiteor in the beginning of the mass. i think i am realizing that there is not just one format anymore, so i have to be cognizant of which format i am watching. there is a great commonality to all, the old and the new. and i believe there is a great benefit to be familiar with all the formats in as many languages as possible. where the latin did use to be the universal language of the mass, the eucharistic narrative is the commonality, no matter what language, the substance remains. i think this is one of the goal's that pope francis has in mind. we are a multicultural world in all its colors and definitions, where the formats of the mass may vary , the message is beautiful and eternal. thank you both.

A really good translation is the Douay-Rheims Confraternity which Sofia Institute Press has just offered in a reader's edition. So you can read it like a book. No double columns, etc. Good one. Might consider it. It was the one translation just prior to v the New American.

I love reading most of the Bible. It's great. But then I have always enjoyed ancient writing. The only parts I get bored with are the laws, the plans for the temple and the epistles.
