Thank you for the video, questions: 1) Did they secure the flange before with screws? Can you tie it down with screws without cut it lower?

I glued it first and then put some screws.

What kind of screws did you use to screw the flange down ? I’ve got same thing to do lol n my basement with a 1/2” subfloor into concrete so probably 1 /12” screws needed

If you want it to be in accordance with the code, then yes, you should lower it

Well we didn't see the end result. I would have loved to see if there was a large gap between the floor and front of the toilet as was in the beginning of the video.

Umm I might be wrong but I thought the flange was supposed to sit on top of the tile
@DIY-repair
@DIY-repair 7 месяцев назад
You are correct. In my case, the floor was not level and had a bump where the flange was located. I had to lower it so the toilet would sit stable.

Ive done this with 3 toilets and it’s pain. I have a toilet that’s leaking so apparently I didn’t do a good job. Ugh
@DIY-repair
@DIY-repair 9 месяцев назад
Depends where it’s leaking from.
@cain769
@cain769 2 года назад
Then you’re supposed to put plastic spacers. There was nothing wrong with that flange height.
@DIY-repair
@DIY-repair 2 года назад
The floor is not leveled so well and I had to put 3 spacer to level the toilet. So, the only way was to lower the flange.

OR.... you just shim the toilet in about 30 seconds at the cost of about 1 dollar and move on.
@DIY-repair
@DIY-repair 8 месяцев назад
It won't help, and in that case, it's not a proper repair. The gap was more than 1/2 inch.

Who on earth invented this ridiculous toilet connection system. Its another American disaster ! Check out the UK systems and also the superb electrical socket outlets.
@Z-Ack
@Z-Ack 2 года назад
The uk plumbing network is a disaster and uk’s sole biggest expenditure that they just had to cover up and build on top of because it was such a shit design.. pun intended.. but those square shit pits all the houses have makes for a big stinky country.. theyre a bitch to work on also because theres times where somebody has to get i those nasty pits for every house.. in the us nobody working residential ever has to get in the sewer.. it all flows to a management station where it gets filtered over and over then put into city streams and resovours to naturally filter before being sanitized and all.. the uk puts it all into the ground and hopes its good by tge time it gets to the treatment places..
@Z-Ack
@Z-Ack 2 года назад
But i agree with you on the electrical.. all around better.. better panels, better grid, better power…. Mhmm
@michaelmcgee2026

I thought the idea of the UK being better than everyone else ended a couple centuries ago.
