Hi Zac, You asked to be recommended ACRYLIC MARKER'S! I can definitely recommend 'LETCO' ACRYLIC MARKER'S. They are very rich in pigment and waterproof when dry also light-fast. Can also get them in metallic colour's too. I do a lot of illustration work, these have never let me down. Always solid colours never patchy or anything very much like Gouache Paints in that respect.

I use a brand called Elmers Painters paint markers. You can find them at Wal-Mart.
