Thank you for this interview because I feel better about 1. short stints at different learning opportunities is ok 2. it's ok to choose to not want to learn from ppl we don't want to 3. bringing a product to market even if not perfect is better than taking more time to make something more academically correct because of business you still get to capture
The story is so emotional. Especially when you know that one of the co-founders passed away, it is so strong that it hits you. Hat off guys for what you are doing.
stoked! I'm watching you young guys delivering wisdom and logic. I'm about to start a newsletter and been reviewing alot. Even though I'm a senior tech guy, I've had to rekindle what's working. So Beehive will certainly play a roll. But the paid subscription feels a bit much to start out with.
one incentive to alienate early developers at startups is stock recapture As an early developer at a startup that ended up leading its field and went public, having 'layers' inserted over you, with new 'superiors' who don't know the history/sacrifices/contributions, this can be very useful if 'they' want 2 to 3 years of your unvested stock back Not ethical but is done "We're giving you 1.5% of the company as employee #5, vested over 4 years" If the ramp happens *_fast_* your unvested stock can become more than they feel like giving out, all of a sudden If you go into a startup as a very early employee, and set your expectation "if this takes off they may want my stock back but I will put up with everything, vest my 4 years, then bail" - it may be a good approach .
funny how when i made a plan for a food aggregator platform in Pakistani market, i made this exact same strategy. I failed in execution miserably but i sincerely believe it has the potential to hit so big.
Kind of like a well-trained athlete who moves to a different city, but pursues a variation of the same sport she already has great skills to do and wins a big sport achievement in 18 months. It likely couldn't have been achieved that quickly if starting from the couch potato position. But, congratulations nonetheless!
anyone here has a good or bad experience with Beehiiv? the part where he talks about "unwillingness to remove the brand logo from the footer " is honestly a red flag.
Hey Brett, great video..but nobody of you talking about third party cookies! In my private life I absolutely deny any third party cookies and legitimate interest for evident reason on literally every website! Now, if I were to start affiliate marketing, I'm pretty sure that I would never take a commission without third party cookies. Is this correct? How to find a compromise? Thanks
...literally nobody talking about! Everyone like me that hates to allow ads and cookies policy, really important matter, is destined to never be able to earn by affiliation, right? Or there is some way to stay safe and earn by this as well?
I have a small but rapidly growing newsletter, how do I grow it even faster? How soon should I monetise? Is it adds or developing a product the best way to monetise? Or should I look to sell.
Love this I’m a creator with a newsletter and put my own ads(affiliate links) and charge local businesses to place ads on my newsletter. Plan is to build website and use mediavine for ads but I like this new business. I also have my own fb group and charge businesses to place ads.
This guy is very smart but I would never use his platform as a long term thinker because this guy is going to wall garden newsletters and gatekeep the advertisers.
I love your videos. However, this one… I started watching it, but had to turn it off. I just came back to it in hopes of finishing the rest of the video, but I have to turn it off again. The way this guy talks, meaning ending every single sentence emphasized as a question, is so annoying that I can’t get through it. That sucks, because there’s probably some really good information in this video.
