One thing you didn’t touch on is how much capital it takes to purchase/grade cards to reach 100k per year in gross profit. If you’re only making $5 profit per card, in order to reach $125k per year you would need to sell 25,000 graded cards. That’s $425,000 in grading fees alone (assuming you are sending to psa at bulk value which is $17 per card). That also means you would average shipping over 2,000 items per month. I doubt anyone is breaking their back and bank doing that lol. Anyways, respectfully my point is that I think average margins have to be higher in order to be successful in flipping graded cards as a full time job.
Oh yeah the $5 margin was a distinctly separate portion from the talk about making $100k. I was a bit all over the place from 50k a year to 1 million a year 😆

Concepts are the same but the hurdle is definitely higher internationally. Those who overcome it though have less competitors often though (for a smaller market) so there's pros and cons
Interesting video. Do you think at some point the market for graded cards will be over saturated? Also just curious on how paying taxes on this works? Do you have to also pay social security or is it all capital gains?
Definitely some cpa questions here but I think saturation has already come in some "plays" and can definitely happen more broadly from time to time. Paying taxes on this all can work a lot of different ways depending on how you structure. Tax optimization is a huge part of any business and best left to the professionals
So the basic formula is buy NM copies of desirable cards at market price, get them graded, sell graded cards on eBay? NM raw has a lot of wiggle room. How much of a gamble is it on getting PSA 10s in general?
Does the patreon go into good detail on how to source the cards? For instance I looked at tcg just as an example.. celebrations charizard there’s only 12 classified as “mint” with pictures. Out of those 12, only 5 are even below $100 vs the “avg” price being in the mid 70s. A lot of the photos aren’t even great/lined up.. hard to tell the alignment, etc.. Or are you just looking at good seller history and buying from them without pics?

What about how long it takes psa to grade the cards, what’s the annual income based on reasonable 60 working day turnaround time? Honestly my biggest limitation is capital, I got more than enough time to devote to this.
Curious if there's any software tools out there that don't exist or you think are lacking? I do this all the time and automate in my daily, so try to do it at home, but want to potentially focus on something others think is important as well
If I knew how to do it I would have a "dashboard" created of "plays" scraping from tcgfish or pokedata or whatever and looking for certain 10 rates price differences from tcg raw to 10 etc I just don't know how to do it
I'm sure Dan looks forward to the day that he has so many people following him, in his discord, that he makes enough revenue from patreon & affiliate links that he won't need to sell another card in his life
okay ive skimmed over your playlists, thanks for your time and efforts.. i guess my main concern which im sure we all share is actually being able to to SELL or FLIP them... i feel like ill get some inventory 500-700 worth but be left sitting with inventory. then i am overthinking if i should list singles or sell packs or do the rip n ship.. what would you do if you had to start over small? again thanks for your time and consideration. definitely will be joining patrion.@@KetchumAllCollectibles
I really enjoyed this video and was wondering what you would think about selling expensive‘Waifu’ cards or alt arts and how do u fare with eBay fees as I feel like I am getting scammed haha
What country? I mean I take in cards from foreign customers and submit to psa for them. Only to ultimately be sold on consignment though. Not as a grading middleman
@@KetchumAllCollectibles Italy. The cost of various taxes, customs, international shipping, insurances and so on always put me off ngl. The fact that the majority of the cards I would like to grade are >€100 in PSA 10 doesn't help either haha. I have a pretty good eye though, I was using a company way stricter than PSA some time ago and my 10s rate was like 95% and it still almost wasn't profitable which tells you something about that company :V Have around a stack of 400 cards set aside for... Whenever I'll be able to grade them be it in 5 or 20 years, it keeps growing, it's kinda fun to see xD
Same problem here, from Slovakia (small country) so pretty much no middleman + insane long turn around time if I were to send to US @@KetchumAllCollectibles.
