Funky synth basslines were invented in the 1970s. Pretty much by Bernie Worrell, who played on all of the classic Funkadelic/Parliament albums, and he played them on the synth that Behringer is clone of, the MiniMoog Model D. In the 1980s he played with The Talking Heads, appearing on their classic live concert film "Stop Making Sense".

Yamaha TX81Z - Lately Bass and DX100 - Modern Bass (same sound) were what I recall being used in New Jack Swing. I’d love New Jack Swing to make a come back. Nice video for that classic 70’s P Funk Moog bass patch.

Thanks for this. I love the gritty warmth of my Model D, but I hadn't really got a smooth bass tone out of it. I could get bass but it's been really aggressive. As electronic producers we kinda like cranking that resonance, but I get the point that you want to rely on the contour more to get something that doesn't sound like disco acid house
