Thanks for making this easy to understand without all the drama on other sites. Very relaxed with your delivery.

I thought I was going to be slick and use a small Buddy Burner to heat up a ceramic pot in my house for heat... Don't do it, soot in my nose for days! 😳

Have made a bunch of them, over the years. Good way to accumulate wax is jar candles sold at yard sales & flea markets. Those that have been barely used are often pennies on the dollar. Just keep an eye out for wax to repurpose. After the season Thanksgiving candle sales, for example. One note of caution. As you said these and the grease/oil versions give off a lot of soot. Not only does it coat the bottom of pots, it's in the air. It'll settle on surfaces. Too much will set off smoke detectors. (Don't ask me how I know! Plus, you want to limit how much of this soot that you take into your lungs. Just don't over do it in terms of having heat and make sure you have adequate ventilation. That said, it isn't a bad idea to have a dozen of these stashed, if a Februray 2021 in Texas, comes your way this winter. Thanks for sharing.

I like this. One thing I wonder about is if you use aluminum foil to line the bottom of your pot while cooking with the buddy burner to eliminate the soot that persues using it.

I remember making the tuna can and cardboard with wax in the Boy Scouts ! Great for Hand Warmers while ice fishing ! I have also boiled Crisco and Bacon grease as well as wax , then added kindling to the mixes . Then tried each one for fire starters with great results ! Stuffed all of the kindling sticks into a big Zip Lock . They all work great for Fire Starters ! Thanks for refreshing my memory about this fun activity! Do it safely !! Love your Content JJ2000

I'd like to see more videos like this. All of these "survival" channels only seem to focus on things only the super rich can afford.

I liked this video !! Very useful information.. Thanks a lot for showing 1litre boil test !!! That really shows the power of Buddy burner... Can you suggest, how to design a stove using Buddy burner that solves soot problem.... So when we use it, our pans won't get black soot on bottom... .. Also smoke produced goes out thro chimney.. Can we use it at ventilated indoors??? Does it produce more smoke ?? Please reply...

Hey man, what a coincidence. I just made a couple of those yesterday morning! Tuna sized and then I made a couple from those small pate spread cans for my Esbit styled folding stove. Cuts down on using the fuel tabs.

This is great but why waste bacon grease?! That's for the potatoes and beans 😂 and bacon is ungodly expensive!

Love your channel and the gems you share; I live a suburban London life and can't help thinking how well prepared for the next few years country folk are - and how city folk like me have lost all connection to "living". Keep up the great vids, I love your informal style and am learning loads from your experiences :)

I was born and raised in this state, moved to California for a few years. Then came back to Arizona. Move to New Mexico for a few years when I got out of the military. Came back to Arizona. I absolutely love this state.

I made an entire breakfast this morning and it was still going strong. I put something in the middle and added a bit more bacon grease and it fired right up again. I had my afternoon coffee. I don't like the soot but then I don't like spending a lot of money on denatured alcohol. This was basically free: I have a cat that uses a few cans of cat food a week, I always have cardboard and I love bacon. Love this one but my fave is still the Vienna stove...

Hi, a suggestion is to fill up a can with cat litter wood pellets then add alcohol fuel, allow it to soak into the pellets before lighting. Even when the alcohol is used up, the wood pellets will continue to burn at a reduced heat. I tried this with a half filled cat food tin which had a surprisingly long burn time.

Would this work with hand sanitizer?
@oldtimerlee8820
@oldtimerlee8820 2 года назад
Possibly, but only on a short term basis. If you make these for future use, the alcohol in the sanitizer will evaporate.
