Nice build and excellent jig! And a comment - I believe one should not soak or immerse boards in oil, rather hand rub warm oil in multiple coats. The reason , especially with edge or end grain, is that the wood needs to “breathe” and take in the oil at its own pace rather than “drowning” it. It usually is 2 - 3 coats or whenever it stops accepting the oil - much like one would do when using Tung or BLO. I wipe off excess and allow surface to dry, then put my butcher block blend on it. ( a mixture of mineral and fractionated coconut plus beeswax and carnauba). Keep up the great work!!
Thanks! Great point on the mineral oil. I'm going to do another cutting board this week for a friend, and I'll switch to your recommended approach, it totally makes sense.
My thoughts exactly! I've made several cutting boards with lots of colors and patterns, but this more classic look is the one that I use in my kitchen every day. Thank you so much!
