My breakers use to trip too. I had an electrician come and put in dedicated breakers for my power tools on each side of my garage. Awesome board

Great job I have the same issue you have with blowing breakers. If I use my air compressor, I have to unplug everything. But you do what you want to do. I am considering buying a generator. and see if that helps.

May I suggest a rip-cutting blade with fewer teeth? I was using the wrong blade for a while which worked fine on softer woods like Walnut but I ended up locking up my table saw and blowing the breaker on a few occasions cutting harder woods like Maple. I switched out to the Diablo 24 tooth rip cutting blade and haven't had any issues since while cutting harder woods like Maple and Purpleheart. I'm still getting really smooth, perfect cuts and the blade is actually cheaper than the blades with more teeth.
@jordzthecarpenter8683
@jordzthecarpenter8683 3 года назад
Oh is that right? Yeah you’re right I probably am using an incorrect blade. Thanks for the tip Chris. I appreciate that!

Great tips and beautiful board, Jordz! I am interested in the planer jig. Any sniping or tear out concerns vs a drum sander?
@jordzthecarpenter8683
@jordzthecarpenter8683 3 года назад
Thanks for the feedback Ryan! I can work on shooting a video for my planer jig. I sometimes get a small amount of snipe but it’s nothing that can’t be sanded out or cut off if you have the room. As far as tear out I never get any with my planer. It has a helical head (spiral cutter head) with 26 individual 1/2”x1/2” carbide teeth so it just chews through wood straight grain or not!

Beautiful cutting boards. I saw you touch up the plank with sanding and glue. It is better to do this with a clear coat, which will not stain if you put the plank in oil.

Beautiful board! Breaker bloiwing kindred spirit here. Questions if you will: 1) Were you nervous about running the board through the planer cross grain (it scares me and I have no drum sander); and 2) No sliding mitre saw here. Could i use the sled/plywood trick to cut the board ends square when cutting it to final length? I appreciate you and the step by step video. That is one very beautiful board.

Beautiful board! What was the length of the pieces in the original glue up? Also, what did the combined width end up being for the initial glue up?
@jordzthecarpenter8683
@jordzthecarpenter8683 3 года назад
Thanks man! The length of the pieces for the first glue up was around 13”. Finished at 9” x 16”. Unfortunately I don’t have the number of the combined width for the initial glue up. My best guess would be around 17-18”. Hope that helps!

Great job man! That selection of boards really pops. I've made a few standard boards and will be making this one soon. Practically every glue up I've done the board is not flat so I have to do exactly what you did to flatten it after glue up. Can you tell me what length you cut boards to? I have the Dewalt 13" planer and want to ensure after glue up I'm not too wide to run it through the planer. TIA
@jordzthecarpenter8683
@jordzthecarpenter8683 2 года назад
Awesome thanks for the feedback Ron! My planer is a 13” as well so the length of the sticks are about 13-14”. Dm me a pic on Instagram when you’re done I’d like to see how it turns out for you!

Very nice cutting board. Question, on your second glue up, it appears that you glued up end-grain to end-grain (sort of). Any concerns with this glue up eventually failing?
@jordzthecarpenter8683
@jordzthecarpenter8683 3 года назад
Hey Jack thank you! Good question. I’m not too worried about this failing as it’s not quite end grain like you said it’s “sort of” end grain. The rips are on a 33 degree so it’s still considered edge grain in my opinion. It’s been 3 months and the board is still in one piece with no signs of failing! Hope that helps. Cheers

Do you know what angle you used at that first glue-up when you were lining them up with your square? Thanks.
@jordzthecarpenter8683
@jordzthecarpenter8683 3 года назад
That angle was completely random. Carpenters choice! But since you asked the angle ended up being 33 degrees
