Less talking, more working! 😂. Love that it’s just getting it done. Hate when you look up a recipe online and you have to scroll for 10 minutes before you finally get the directions.
I did almost exactly this last year to bend 4.5m long pieces for the gunn’ls on my boat (it’s a 4.2m long Iain Oughtred designed Tammy Norrie). It worked great, I used two commercial steam wallpaper removers and nearly 5m long, with a T about 1/4the way from each end. Jammed a couple of old rags to ‘seal’ the ends (no pressure generated, no risk of going ‘pop’). The pipe was sandwiched between two 2x4s over 4 saw-horses. I had already marked out my desired curves (slightly more bent than the actual to account for spring back) on my workbench, and screwed wood blocks every 60cm. The steaming took about 10minutes and we had about 1minute to get each board out and into the blocks. Then a cuppa while the next board is in the steam and the previous board cools in the blocks. The only problem was the pipe (uv stable PVC) was very droopy, but I wasn’t planning on using for anything later.
it was definitely a learning process. After making the steambox, I made a circular base with old straps to support the wood while being bent in a circle. Such a fun time. Thanks for watching.
i made one real similar to this , works great!!! i use mine mostly for bending pvc pipes for dance prop for the local dance studio, thanks for the video!!!
Glad it helps. It is a brass hose ripple or hose end fitting...one side attaches to the tube with a nut..the other end allows the tubing from the steam generator to be pushed on.
