nicely demonstrated. I made one after watching your tutorial. For and extra measure , I shrank a length of adhesive heat shrink tubing over the two clamps. It looks great and I think it protects the clamps from absorbing moisture under the clamps who can cause rot and weakness in the rope. Thanks for sharing your video

Love this! I've seen people use thread to wrap around the loop points (without a clamp) in a way that doesn't seem the most secure for a puppy that still pulls, but I could always do the colorful thread wrap around the clamps to make it look nice! I will be having a medium sized dog on the smaller end when he grows up, but am wondering what thickness of nylon cord may be best? Also, would polypropylene rope work as well? I think I've seen some leashes made using that.

3/8" to 1/2" rope would work just fine for you. As for using polypropylene - yes, the solid braid polypro would be a great choice for a light weight rope. 1/2" Would probably feel the best in the hands. Hope this helps.

Using Loctite should work well to keep the screws nice and tight for you.

It's a 7/16" arborist rope (Blaze)

And what’s the length of the rope? I see on the website, to purchase the rope it’s by the foot.

That was about a 8-10 ft. piece. It's really personal preference.

What size clamp would I need if I’m using a 1/2” heavy duty diamond braid polypropylene rope?

It depends. If it's a softer, solid braid polypropylene rope like the one we sell, I would suggest going with the 1/2" clamp. If it's a rope that is harder and will not compress as easily, then I would go up one size to the 5/8".

For this particular rope we used a 1/2" clamp. There are some ropes where you will want to go up one size from the rope diameter to make installing the clamp easier (i.e. double braid nylon).
