In this tutorial you'll learn how to make #french style (with tail) felt #beret with leather band out of minimal materials, this one cost me less than $2 to make. I know it is not authentic because of the fact that it is not knitted into one stock, but it is definitely close.

One suggestion for cutting out your circle is to fold your fabric, fold your pattern in half and place on the fold of your fabric. Makes it easy

I miss when anything was less than $2... Anyway finally a beret tut that uses _felt,_ it was weirdly hard to find one that used structured fabric at all

Well, most of the tutorials are regarding a modern style of floppy beret that is kinda popular at the moment. A traditional basque beret is knitted then felted. Obviously most crafters don't have the equipment nor patience to make one of those. Mine is a shortcut but gets us closer to the traditional style.

@@meercreate I _think_ they were saying they don’t want static shock from electric charge getting into the wool/felt of the hat, and want refs for …shock resistant lining?

There are treatments for the wool. There is also an antistatic mesh they use to make ESD jackets out of
