Tip for next time ya have a project like this , they make little staples you can push through the weedblocker to hold it in place , makes it a breeze and is something you’ll really want for a blocker with Rock over the top of it , looks good !
You did an amazing job... it looks fantastic! Now, it was hard work but it does look like you paid a professional to come in and do it for you.... if I had more than two thumbs- I will put them all up😜👍👍
Great video, this is how more DIY videos should be - it actually feels like you're learning with us. It ends up being a lot more useful and informative that going through the motions with brief, vague steps wrapped up in ten minutes.
That looks great. Since you mentioned grass at the end i assume your wanting to make it thicker and greener. Just rent a arriation machine from home depot and throw some seed. Less than half a day. Yard will look great. Or leave it how it is its fine!
Looks beautiful! I have done projects like this, having some idea in mind but not a total plan. You learn as you go and sometimes those are the projects that turn out the best. Thanks for sharing this!
Tape the fabric down with Duct tape before you put down the pea gravel. It will not move around when people walk on it. Love the job you did thank you for the great idea. New subscriber :)
I love your video! It’s a lot of hard work but it’s paid off nicely. I dream to redo my landscape every day but the Texas heat is too much this time of the year. This is such an inspiration 😍 thank you.
I can just imagine, Jennaa! Maybe once the fall rolls around you can tackle it. I have never been to TX in the summer but I imagine it would feel like sitting in an oven?? :) LOL
You go gurl! I'm very impressed that you didn't give up, outside work is exhausting! 🥵 I'm curious, how long did it take from start to finish? What was your estimated cost on both projects? (Fire pit, walkway and sitting area?)
If anyone wants to save the digging work, I did my back patio by using a raised edge--so that the blocks are taller than the ground. Similar to a raised bed technique. It means you just dig around the edge of where you want the patio, put in large blocks (or a double layer of blocks), then lay down your landscape cloth, dirt over that, pavers (or in this case gravel) on that. Will save you loads of digging. Similar to what you see here, but with a little more of a raised border.
A couple questions please: Whats the name of that tiller/cultivator you're using? Do you recommend it or is there a better one you'd recommend for removing mostly dead grass? Should the soil be moist or dry to get the best results from the cultivator? Also I've heard about using sand to stabilize pea gravel - like putting it underneath the weed barrier I think. Do you think that would be necessary for something like this? - Thanks! Its so encouraging for me to see a woman tackling a project like this!
Great job! I am thinking of doing this same thing where I had a 24x52 above ground pool. If you don't mind sharing, how much did you spend on all of the bags of gravel.
This looks great! We are just starting our walkway & firepit and a gravel parking place for our RV and I'm afraid it's too big of a project. I am inspired my your project!! BTW, my husband is doing all the digging and heavy lifting ;) I admire your ability & desire to do it yourself! Love those fire pit chairs. How do you like them? We'll be getting new ones next year and trying to decide what kind to get.
Hmmm....I'm not sure. When you buy pea gravel, ask the nursery. They can help you decide how many bags needed based on the side of your fire pit. Good luck! :)
That tiller was like a toy. Cringe! Id have to use it on my knees so I'm not bent over 90 Degrees lol. Reminds me of my neighbors electric snow blower where it takes her 5 hours to do her drive way. To remove a foot of snow takes me 30 minutes to do both my driveways. Anyways thats just my opinion on cheap battery stuff. Great diy project and keep up the good work!
6:45 NOW ya husband comes out to help? 😂🤣...either your a "I can do this too and it's my project! So let ME do it please" type of person...or your husband is lazy 😂...thank you for the info though...you got some serious patience for this lol
Great job but that weed block fabric is awful!! Everything I use it, weeds the next year. So I like the cardboard idea. I put it down, soaked it and left openings around plants. So far so good!
Yours was the 4th video I watched on how to make a patio fire pit area. Yours was also the only one that was realistic. Not all of us can rent power equipment or have about 10 people helping or about 4,000 to spend on it. Thank you so much for posting a video for the rest of us.
I am just starting to plan out ideas in my head and the way you did yours is the closest to what I am leaning towards based on similar yard style and budget. I don’t want to simply pay for a professional to come in and do it. What is the final cost you realized in your project with tools included?
I’m always impressed to those that admit their mistakes along the way for others to learn from! Thank you for that & your honesty! Great job! Looks beautiful!
this put a smile on my face. I love it when poeple know that they have a good home and then start to invest in it. It really pays off and makes you proud of what you can accomplish when you work on something you love.
Omg, haha, I agree!! I love doing projects myself, then get frustrated when I see I'm gonna need help🤣 My husband already knows not to even ask if I need help though.
this is great!! its refreshing to see a diy video where the person doesn't takes 20 minutes to explain every single thing. it's concise, simple, and looks great! THANKS!!!!!
