How to Make a French Rolling Pin Made Out of Recycled Skateboards (2021)

Inspired by my buddy Ben at Woby Designs, I made my wife this french rolling pin out of recycled skateboards. I grew up on a skateboard, so it was a lot of fun to bring it into this woodworking project.
I'm pretty new to woodturning projects and using a wood lathe however this is for sure not the last time I will use recycled skateboards for a project on the lathe.

Kris, your woodworking blows my mind. For someone who has probably a ton of skateboards kicking around that’s a great idea to reuse them. Just unreal and awesome. SEND THEM ALL MY WAY! hahahaha. Awesome work man.

Excellent project... it turned out fantastic, dings and all, and I would LUV to own it, or one like it (wouldn't want to steal your wife's Christmas present). I am very new to the wood working community and luv to see old wood recycled into beautiful functional projects.... keep the small 'weekend warrior' projects coming.

I would love to have one. The handled rollers do no do justice to trying to roll doughs and pastas for shaped items. This looks amazing!

Yeah, if you sand the graphics off, it glues up really nicely. I’ve made pen blanks out of skateboards too. They look amazing when turned

The rolling pin looks amazing, nice work! I built a headboard using skateboard plys and have a few blanks left. One Idea I had was to incorporate them into edge grain cutting boards but after a test run, the dye from the colored plys would seep out when they got a little wet from wiping down. Curious if you've seen this? I usually just wipe off my rolling pin with a towel and rarely does it get wet, so this seems like an awesome application. Nice work again!

I love you channel and watch it whenever I can. At first, I really wanted that rolling pin but then I got confused...could I win the rolling pin you made for your wife for Christmas? I couldn't live with myself if that was the case. But, was the opportunity to get a copy or similar rolling pin? I couldn't tell based on the video but I really enjoyed watching it since I cannot do any turning projects since I don't have a lathe...but honestly I enjoyed watching you make the pin.
