The Galileo thermostats are definitely eye-catching pieces. I like the shelf you made, especially the detail on the top to match the thermostat and walnut was a great a choice.
Great project Chris! I like how the top mirrors the shape of the thermometer. Good call on making that top piece smaller and the Danish oil looks great.
So cool. I love the thermometer! I found one on Amazon but need to get my wife's thoughts first, I've never been excited about a thermometer before, unless it's saying 70°😄 back to Minnesota winter reality😞 God bless!!!!

Amazing how you can make design changes as you go along. I really like the point at the top that mimics the shape of the instrument. However, in the final shot I thought you had put a gold foil cap on it until I looked more closely. Now, to look for a Galileo thermometer for myself at a local garage sale.
May have to make one of those, Chris. I got a Galileo thermometer and a storm globe for Christmas and it sit on a plaque on top of a radio in my office. On the wall would be a lot safer,con not get knock over.
Thank you! I will show some more on the next "Time with Pine".I made it a couple months ago... some left over melamine for the disk and the small platform that rides of the rail. Not very complicated . I bought a self adhesive sander disk at the woodworkers show and mounted the melamine disk on a faceplate, thats it. works fine.
Excellent idea for a wall mount shelf for that type thermometer. Like the walnut and the upper design tip. From the beginning of the build to the end, then as you displayed in your house, I didn't notice any change in the internal vessels (perhaps there was and I missed it). I assume there was a large difference in temps between your shop and the inside of the house. So is it not working or was there not enough time for the temp change to take effect on the vessels?
MRrwmac Good questions. This thermometer works on the upper temps of 70 to 82 degrees... so if it were above 70 the lower ball would come down and the temp would be the highest group pf balls, the lower ball being the temp. I knew how they worked but had forgotten the temp ranges they indicated. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Again, very intuitive idea and useful build that came out looking great.
