I have enjoyed woodworking most of my life. My step father was a cabinet maker. When I married and we bought our first home I very quickly started establishing woodworking tools and a shop in the garage. This channel will be about my woodworking projects. I look forward to getting to know you all better and making videos.
Mine just died today along with my car battery. Pep Boys was happy to take it back, but something told me to hold onto it, and figure this out. So thanks for posting!
@@TheChrisPineWorkshop I mean of course I can't speak for that specific kit but in general when you see a bone nut or saddle it's made of cattle bone. Of course some companies could be selling a synthetic or something and lying about it but in general I don't think so
Awesome! I got one dead for free, berely working.. and always thought of fixing it. already bought a new one, but I’d much rather fix it than throw it out
5 years late seeing this.. but I have one of these here in the house "somewhere"... so, gonna open it up and see if I can find a replacement battery for it. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I just bought one for $39.99. I started putting it together today, following the instructions. The instructions are terrible. It says to take the measurement of the length and width needed for the tool stand. Then to subtract 1-3/4" from the length and add 5/8" to the width. I decided to put the assembly together before making the length cuts. It turns out that, if I had I'd have been 2" too long on the length and 1/4" too short for the width. Not a huge problem as I have a wood stretcher;-).
Hey Chris, thanks for the build! These things are survivable but frankly, I hate spending the time to figure it out! I’m most thankful there are those who do take that time and attack those challenges and even more so, are kind enough to share it with lazy folks like me!!😊👊🏻 New subscriber…thanks again!!
in new Zealand, I've just wathced your excellent series while in recovery from cellulitis in a leg,;you've inspired me to make this beautiful stool. Without buying the book, can you direct me to plans with sizes of all components, please? I think I'll use black walnut and oak since I have some slab on both species I can cut and dress to suit.
Thanks John! I had a drawing somewhere but I will be danged if I can find it now. :) Even with the book and drawing it was a lot of just figuring it out. I did find this : www.lumberjocks.com/showcase/tage-frid-style-three-legged-chairs-set-of-6.164533/
Great video. I’m wanting to make one of these too. Are your doors also 1/2”? If so then that’s going to be a teeny tiny mortise and tenon being 1/3 of that.
The thickness of teh door pieces is indeed 1/2 inch. liek I show in teh video the book with this plan in it is available fairly cheap on ebay ro otehr places. Also I bet your local library would have it for check out.
@@TheChrisPineWorkshop I have plans for this in 3 different shaker books - cutting M&T into 1/2” means a very thin and brittle tenon. How did you find it? Any issues? The main difference from this plan is that I want to use hand tools for the build.
I tested my battery with a multimeter n it only gives me 8.70 v . if I plug it with the extention cord it flashes full ,full, full.could this be the battery ?,help anybody..I'm Diy
I assume you mean teh battery like this one for a jumper box? You are saying ti will not recharge any higher than 8.7 volts? If s it probably is teh battery. Auto Zone might be able to put there tester on ti but generally these batteries eventually wear out and won't charge up.
Hey I got one the same way but it's a nice teal color. I did all the same things and then I had to call the company because the k&k meter didn't work. I haven't replaced it yet but get this they have never heard of a teal colored one. It's their product how could they not know of the colors they used? So I asked him if he wanted it for his museum? I don't know. showroom? I never heard back.
It's a great little DIY project and the final product looks very neat and functional, well done. Depending on the charcoal type and thickness of the metal can, my concern would be radiant heat striking your hand when you go to grab it and empty it. This is why the typical Weber chimneys have a thick metal plate between the handle and can.
What is the metal strap called that goes under the seat? Do you know where to buy one? I don't even know the proper name of it so that is hindering my search
I don't know what they would call it either but you just need a piece of metal about 1/8 inch thick about 3/4 to 1 inch wide drill holes in it and bend it to fit that part of bench. Screw it to wood slats
Thanks I'll dumpster dive this weekend...this will help alot have been using briquettes to burn out tree stumps and know get stares from. Neighbors when I have been lighting up them so this way I can be stealth at nite....and priceing the factory ones 20...40 $
I have only the frame with a similar arched back. Can your tell me what thickness of the wood were you using? Any suggestions on getting an accurate measurement if I don't have any of the wood to use as a template?
