My mom has horrible arthritis in her knees :( I’ve used a store bought one of these at my boyfriends house and I just knew one would be perfect for my mom. Unfortunately we’re tight on money right now but this video was so helpful! I was able to make my mom one :) I had to hand stitch the whole thing but it really didn’t take long at all! Thanks for the video 🥰

Please look into grounding/earthing for your mom - I have terrible arthritis in my knees too and I researching grounding and found it improved my knees considerably.

How your mom now? Have you ever tried using a castor oil pack (with heat)? It helps a ton with arthritis too

I pick up my puppy chihuahua in 10 days, the bear I was going to buy which had a heat pad and beating heart has sold out, so I’m going to take it in my own hands and make this to help my chihuahua settle when she comes to her home ❤️❤️❤️

Suggestion, do not use rice, because in the end you are cooking it and it will end up stinking. So after doing research switch to flax seed. It won't smell as bad.

I actually find the smell of the cooked rice to be comforting. I also used to have a bag filled with corn and the smell had the same effect.

How do you keep the rice from falling into either side, for instance, if using over the knee?

Hello Miss Kaylee, maybe you could specify the type of rice that should be used for the most convenient result. I did a test with white Basmati rice (the only one I have at the moment) and the rice perspired so much after 30 seconds in the microwave that both microwave and fabric were wet ! True, my rice would probably prevent the skin from dryness but... I guess brown rice may be required... Read you soon!
@chasingthelook
@chasingthelook 3 года назад
Hi, I also used white basmati rice and have not had any issues with moisture. Brown rice is worth a try as it might be drier than white.

Maybe old rice will not give out moisture
@Boogeyman1435

@@nilimashah5966 I would imagine that after heating it up a couple of times...the moisture would dissipate anyway

Can you use brown rice? Also, does the rice eventually cook after many uses?
@beatolan7935
@beatolan7935 3 года назад
Hey! Dont think the rice cooks when its only heated for 1:30-2 minutes.

You don’t need some kind of protecting insulation for microwave?

Going in microwave does fabric need to be 100%cotton as well as thread???

Hey girl,I have a question! I don’t own a microwave so how can I heat it without one? Thank you
@chasingthelook
@chasingthelook 2 года назад
Good question! I searched "rice heating pad in oven" and lots of results say you can put it in a glass baking dish and heat at 200 F (93 C) for 5-10 minutes. I haven't tried that, though, so if you do keep an eye on it and be careful handling it in case it gets really hot.

I wouldn't recommend it. You would need to be 100% sure they are microwave safe.

You could sew this by hand, too. It would take longer than with a sewing machine but it would still be very simple.
