The simpler the cake, the harder it is to make. Watch me as I make a korean-inspired minimalist lettering cake for the birthday of my high school friend’s dad :)
Btw, I am still a newbie here and there’s still a lot to improve and I’m slowly adapting to this new venture. Please be nice 🤗
INGREDIENTS:
- Buttermilk (2/3 cup milk + 1/2 tbsp vinegar) let it rest for 5-10 mins until coagulation occurs
- 1 tbsp red food color
- 1 cup sugar
- 170g butter (roughly 3/4 of whole)
- 1 whole egg
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 cup flour + 4 tbsp (190g)
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
STEPS:
1. Cream butter and sugar
2. Add eggs
3. Prepare buttermilk. Let it sit for 10 mins and then add red food coloring
4. Sift dry ingredients (AP flour, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa powder, salt)
5. Mix altogether
6. Bake at 350 degrees farenheit (or 176 deg c) for 20-25 mins
For the frosting, you can use buttercream or whipped cream.
