Although my cold process soap making tutorials are of a tutorial nature, they are intended for people who have a good understanding of making cold process soap. The information given is based on what works for me, however, there are lots of variables associated with cold process soap making and I therefore, take no responsibility for the results achieved when using the techniques or methods explained in these tutorials. Cold process soap involves the necessary use of sodium Hydroxide (lye) which is a very dangerous substance. Before attempting and cold process soap making you should ensure you are fully aware of the lye safety procedures and always wear the correct safety equipment when making soap.

Hi thanks for this. I was just wondering, can you make add to layers after the soap has cured and will it stick to the existing layers? Thanks

@@IDreamInSoap that's ok, I'm already odd. Hahhaha this was fun. Thank you for uploading. I make my lines from the same batch. I reach emulsion, split the batter and start adding essential oil and colorant to each one. But I use some trace accelerant so I don't have to wait for them to set up on their own. Major time saver. I don't work with so many layers, though, maximum of 5.

I use those air bubble thingys that come in your orders. Just cut the top off and line your bottles. Easy clean up. Lovely soap.
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 4 года назад
Christine, yes I think quite a few people line their bottles and it does make the clean up easy so it's a great idea. I do find that if you only want a small amount in your bottle they do stop the flow as once they start emptying you can't shake the soap down because the bag traps it all. Thank for leaving the tip. I know a lot of people avoid squeeze bottles because of the clean up so this is great and the ones from your packaging get a tick from me at they're often recyclable and even just using them in your bottles means you've doubled their use.

AW no, that's a shame. I try to choose music that's not annoying and I think quite a few people like to have some music. I've just been into the video to check the music on that one and I can see how it could be annoying if it repeats too much. Thank you for your feedback, I do appreciate you letting me know as I want people to enjoy my videos, I have used that on a few videos, but have also started to source my music elsewhere so hopefully I can get it right.

I Dream In Soap hi Lisa, thanks for replying! So many subscribers get cross when another mentions music in a video. I tend to be one that likes to just listen to the craft, or music played very quietly in the background. You ought to think about asking musicians on here if you can play their music as backing tracks. People like Jo Ann Smith who plays the autoharp. Her music is stunning, and would be fab in the background of your soap making. If you put in her name and ‘amazing grace’ you’ll see one of her videos that has had over half a million views. She’s a wonderful lady and i think likely to be happy for her music to go alongside your own artistry. Worth asking anyhow! I hope you didn’t mind me saying about it .. I’m ‘one of those’ who likes peace when watching crafts - i love the sound of things being made. Leather being cut, soap being mixed, wood being carved etc. 😊 stay well.

Am I understanding this correctly, you would make your lye solution and melted oils like normal but then divide the lye water and melted oils by the number of layers you wish to create? Next, you would proceed as normal with each new mini portion of lye solution and oils, blend to emulsification or light trace, add your colorants, calculated amount of fragrance oil (based on dividing the total volume by the number of layers desired) and pour each layer into the mold. Thank you in advance for clarifying 😊

Hi Dawn, are you in the UK? As that's where I am, so my FO suppliers are here. I use a few suppliers, Sensory Perfection, Candle Shack, Scent Perfique, ScentyMental, Gracefruit, Soap Supplier (Think that's it). I agree there's very little info around in the UK. I have spent a lot of time (and money) testing fragrances, I buy little test pots of FO and make up small samples to test (I've made a video on how to do it). I think it's one of those things you just have to do as even when I've come across reviews they have often been inaccurate.

Another great video! Well done Lisa! Lovely colours too. How does Avobath behave in cold process soap? Does it accelerate trace?
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 4 года назад
Hi Nicole, thanks a lot. It does accelerate a bit, but not badly, so I wouldn't use it for something that needed a thin trace for an extended pour, like a dancing funnel, pipe divider, tiawan swirl that type of thing. But for layers, hanger swirl, drop swirl (if you don't flap about too much) it would be fine. I only hand stir it in to prevent acceleration

Beautiful soap, love the color combo. You are just amazing and thank you for all the detailed video, they are di helpful for beginners diapers like me. By the way, where did you get the scale? What brand is it?
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 4 года назад
Ha. ha good old auto correct. Thank you for your lovely comment. The scales is by Salter, it's a Heston Bumenthal branded one. You can get them on Amazon. I'm in the UK, not sure if you can get them on Amazon.com. But to be honest you can pick up a precision scale pretty easily, there are quite a few to choose from and the details should tell you the smallest measurements they go to. The Salter one is good as it has the 2 scales in one.

Spraying with alcohol was probably your issue, you do that for next and pour. You shouldn't do it for cold process. Try not to let the layers set for too long. As soon as they're firm, pour the next layer
