Hi Carrie, this is the recipe we had in Home Economics in high school in 1965😂! BUT my aunts and grandmother made it with milk instead of water and flour instead of corn starch. All the measurements was still the same! Also, everything went into the po including egg yolks (no tempering was needed because it all heated together with no scrambling. Lemon juice/zest and butter was added after custard was thickened and the heat off. I know that your recipe is good but i promise you, if you try the milk etc. I bet you will be able to tell the awesome difference in the creamy goodness. Made my first lemon meringue pie tonight. I am 72 yrs. old. I love them. But, I think I got just a little bit of yolk in my whites. Because they certainly did not fluff up. It's ok. We will just have lemon pie. Also forgot to zest my lemon.
Very good instructions. I like the way you had the basics all ready. It will be nice if you posted the recipe. I must try it. It looked easy! To watch! I thought we always needed a double boiler. Thank you
