The main reason you caught bubbles in your silicone mold was your pouring technique. Instead of draping the silicone all over the model by moving your pour cup around while you pour, try pouring the silicone into one spot at the lowest point on the model. The silicone will rise up and push out all air, eliminating the bubbles as it rises.

@@TabletopWitchCRAFT Are you still going to Italy this year? If so, when you look at medieval houses there, you will notice that they are smaller rather than larger. I think it has something to do with minimizing heat loss when doors open. And to make defense a lot easier for the homeowner/resident.

Wow! You always amaze with your details and careful planning. It really shows in the quality of your videos and builds. This technique isnt for me (I'm not in the market at the moment for making my own Hirst moulds, lol) but I always find techniques to use in other places. Those quick and dirty lights in the scrap foam can be easily used in more traditional foam houses as well! Anyways, great work as always. Lookimg forward to the rest of the series!

Brilliant. Using skewers to hold them together is so much easier than magnets, and they'll work for the removable roof sections, too. I'm thinking of a variation on this, so I don't have to make molds or do any casting, but I'm totally doing bunch of buildings just like these in 10' and 20' sections. (Victorian Brownstone buildings are only 20' wide, so I could do a whole street to scale using 4" blocks? Oh yeah!!!)

@@TabletopWitchCRAFT As someone who works with paper and popups, I've considered this, but for large maps and structures that require support to for characters to stand on, paper popups are cool but have drawbacks. They are a beast to engineer, and it probably wouldnt survive one evening, the larger you go the less strength they have, but by god would you get some oohs and aahs when you unfold a paper tavern, ruin, or ship. Often they have trouble laying flat, maybe using cardstock, pvc or cardboard as backing for the outer coverpages, using a tape hinge rather than a fold. You could create a floortile that resembles the rest of the floor, but it opens to reveal a portal, trap, monster, etc. Your floortiles could also change the floorplan.

@@TabletopWitchCRAFT that D&D table you built a while back, inspired me to start picking up my game room “game.” I did a initiative window that I use during my game. They look great and the process is great for mass building, but the door sizing is a little off. Looks like the doors would be like 10 ft tall. Shrinking them down to just the first level would be better. Or changing the arch to be decorative like a window.
@TabletopWitchCRAFT
@TabletopWitchCRAFT 6 месяцев назад
The doors are on just the first level. Scale can be tough. Honestly when you think about it most everyone makes doors 1” wide to fit a grid and that would make a 5’ wide door. A true to scale building for tabletop gaming I think would surprise most people.

The foam you're using is not readily available except in Europe. If you somehow got some it must have been very expensive. I dont listen to videos on RU-vid only watch them so if you mentioned the reason for using this foam instead of what is really available in North America I am sorry. I think its better if you stick with materials that are available by normal means, if you are doing tutorials. My two cents, it makes the videos pointless if you cannot obtain the material to try them for yourself. Your vids are better than Black Magic Crafts, but that is my recommendation. Hopefully you take criticism better than Jeremy who loses his mind if someone points something out to him.
