Learn how to make a Mausoleum for a home haunt or haunted attraction. This process can be applied to make lots of different set structures I just happen to choose a Mausoleum. I created this Mausoleum a number a years ago so I tried my best to walk you through the process from planning, materials, construction and assembly. Thats right, I built it in my backyard in hopes that you could get some creative inspiration for your next Halloween build! Nice job you two. After watching this and your fence video you guys do really nice work. Everything looks amazing and you also produce very helpful and well made videos sharing how you create your spooky masterpieces. You planning any additions for this year? Cheers!

Thank you guys! It means a lot coming from you two! (Queue Wayne’s World we’re not worthy clip). You’re videos, projects and that EPIC haunted house you created a few years back is inspiring! I have some in the works I need to edit for this year but running a little behind with this years Halloween project 😅

Whoops, didn’t answer your question! This years project is to channel my inner pumpkin rot and create two creatures, a skeleton and a pumpkin!

Super impressive build. It turned out great. I really appreciate that you thought about storage during your build. Its really cool that you were able to get foam that thick for so cheap.

I think I’m gonna pull the trigger on doing this, I’m so out of storage tho it’s bad. My entire attic is filled with Halloween stuff mainly and some storage

That’s amazing! 🙌🏻🎃 However, I would say to plan storage that wouldn’t require lugging flat up and down am attic! Wishing you all the best in this Halloween adventure!

I really like how you plan this out for storage and putting it up and down. One day I would love to add one to my display..

I’ve had too many props get destroyed because of the weather that I needed storage, it’s totally worth it!

I suggest using a ball of tin foil to roll over the foam. It gives a nice texture. Great job on this, looks amazing.

very good idea, thanks Jamie! My personal favorite texture is to spray water on it and do a quick pass with a blow torch.

I’m short, anything that doesn’t require a ladder is good for me, I’m accident prone. The bolts definitely help…doing that now with our house. Love the Windows!! Good vid

Very cool build. Now I'm thinking something like this would look awesome for our place too. I can get thinner pieces of foam from work for free, have you ever done anything analogous, where you get the depth from many smaller layers? If so, best ways to work it?
@menaceproductions
@menaceproductions 2 года назад
Free is always better 🙌🏻 You need the depth to get the look so I’ve glue and stacked pieces to add depth. You can still use 2” thick foam but you’ll need to mimic bricks or smaller stone to make it look believable, hope this helps!
@blackc1479

@@menaceproductions thanks. I was thinking about it, and probably the best course would be to do a rigid back like real sheets of foam or mdf as the morter level and glue the thin sheets together to be cut and shaped into the bricks. Then if need be, caulk as actual morter

Looks great! I hope to build something similar this year. Any rough guess on total cost?
@menaceproductions
@menaceproductions 2 года назад
It all comes down to the lumber prices as they’ve increased since I’ve built this and will be the bulk of the cost. If you’re shootings to build a mausoleum at the same dimensions I’ll give you a rough breakdown of lumber pieces to help price it out. Make sure to include screws, paint, foam and bolts too! Here’s the rough breakdown of wood: • 60 grade a 2x3x8 (3 per flat, roof, support) • 8 grade a 2x4x8 (for roof support) • 17 sheets of pre-sanded ply

What is the foam panels for this
@menaceproductions
@menaceproductions 2 года назад
These are 1pound density EPS Polystyrene 4’ x 8’ by 4” thick.

With only the front, side and one side of the roof showing, having an entire closed structure seems like a lot of work, where it could just be a smaller facade. Now if you had a FCG inside, you would want a full enclosed building.
@menaceproductions
@menaceproductions 2 года назад
To each there own, for me it was super hard to build something that wasn’t a rectangle while still getting perspective and making it easy to assemble and transport. Plus I may want to add foam to the rest of the sides down the road.
