ArmorWolves My god... if you don't mind shall I recommend a few songs from each individual band? (I promise you will not be disappointed) for Cynic their albums "Focus" and "Traced in Air" still have a bit of "Death" in them (mostly Focus) but I recommend you check out "Veil of Maya" and "Space For This" Death listen to "Flesh and the Power it Holds" and "Crystal Mountain" Obscura "Incarnated" and "Akroasis" Beyond Creation "Fundamental Process" and "Earthborn Revolution" finally with Gorod... "Elements and Spirit" + "Transcendence" (enjoy dude, you won't regret it!)

*Hey, everyone!* I can see the genre accuracy is wavering a little on this one. As I stated in a comment below, I had it way more thrashy/less melodic to start. But I found it to be a little plain, so I took my own liberties with it. Doing something like that would definitely change up the style, which is something I didn't quite factor in. Never been a huge thrash guy, so I wasn't sure what sounded good/catchy and what didn't. EITHER WAY, I hope you guys enjoyed the song! That's matters most in the end. The next few "How-To'"s are more in my melodic style, and I'm incredibly excited to show them off, so stay tuned! *P.S* I changed the name to Melodic Thrash Metal, since people are saying it's a little more accurate that way

*UPDATES* - I tried - How-To Album (+ Tabs) is almost done! Signed up with Distrokid to get it out quicker everywhere when the time comes - Working on a new end card (woah, super interesting). Trying to fix that image quality. - The "italica" joke is just a play on "Metallica", but in italic font. I was editing at 7 AM at that point. GOOD DECISIONS - I think that's it. Expect more soon!

I'm going to be honest here. His songs don't really sound like what they're supposed to represent - actually they all sound pretty similar, and I think that's because he has his own unique sound which he keeps falling into. It's not "How to make a song", it's "How to make a Shady Cicada song". I think you have a great sound, and I watch your videos not because I want to know how to play a song, I watch because I REALLY enjoy your music. Keep it up.

How to actually make a thrash song: 1.- Dont go lower than 1 step down (NO DROP TUNINGS) 2.- Only downpick and maybe some triplets 3.- NO LEADS 4.- 5TH CHORDS ALL THE SONG 5.- A nice solo in a pentatonic scale with a lot of wah wah and then some divebomb at the end 6.- A nice and simple but not brutal breakdown with E5 chords 7.- Play some 5th chords for your verse really fast ( around 180 to 230 BPM) 8.- Maybe for your bridge go a little bit slower 9.- Just play some more 5th chords and sometimes some downpicking in the open E string for the chorus 10.- Dont sing, you gotta sound very angry, like if someone had eaten that food you been waiting all day to get home and eat it 11.- NO MIIIDS 12.- SLAYUUUUUR!!!

The song is awesome! Not completly Thrash but there's definitely a lot of elements that reminds me the genre. I'd love to compose good songs like you do. I'm an intermediate player and I began to write songs, but it seems complicate to me to make something in my style and that is not only verse/chorus/same verse/chorus/break/chorus. I don't give up and you're definitely one of those youtuber which I care about how you write your songs. Great work! :D

My first thought while listening to the chorus of the song was the Opening to Railgun! Good stuff, I don't care if you get the subgenre wrong honestly, it's all so fine tuned and abundant that any variance at all and all of a sudden it's "OMG! AH HA HA, well that's the Grindcore from the good ol' days, now of days Grindcore songs will range between 2 minutes or less (check Wormrot's album Voices from last year) I would love if he gets references from classic Grindcore bands and Modern Grindcore bands to make that tutorial (would be very happy if I hear some Nasum in it)

Lone Wolf Dont have a video link? But a great way to practice adding leads and discovering how to do that? Play a chord. And play every note in the scale that chord falls in. Then move that scale all over the fret board. Move it into fifths and octaves or half octaves. Eventually youll find the technique that works for you.

Agonist is more Melodic Deathcore than anything, but Arch Enemy is definitely Melodeath, so that would be a good standard.

I think drop tunings don't work with thrash. But otherwise you got everything right eveot for the non-rhythimcal chorus part, might I add in that picking patterns can help make the song unique (disposable heroes)
