Glad to hear it Coop! Don't delete you instruction videos...they are all great and I would enjoy learning from them when I'm ready. I'll have to get one of your jigs too, looks like they make the process much more enjoyable.
+MrCoop question, i just made the leash. but how to you stop it? i went back to the cord after the handle but dont know how to stop. Just burn the end or loop the cord in the core one?
I am a complete novice to the world of Paracord. This video was PERFECT for what I am looking to make. I have a 2 year old Staffordshire Terrier (better known as a Blue Nose Pitbull), with how powerful she is my leash is really more of just a 2.5" handle with a heavy duty clasp. You basically made exactly what I am making! Not to mention you posted it on my 29th birthday, must be a sign ;) Keep up the great videos!
That's a great idea, I was asked to do a dog leash for one of my buddies and I wasn't sure how I was gonna do the handle and now I know thanks awesome videos man
Cool beans buddy I'ed like to see what you come up with. I have a collar video in my play list and then of course this video will give you the basics for the leash. Looking forward to seeing what you make.
Brother Pinto, Man I would feel honored if you did buddy. It takes your mind off all the BS in the world. And you can create things you can use.. Chin up & fly high my friend it is a wonderful day in Coop Land..
Hello Amanda, I use the King or Double Cobra knot for all my leashes and collars. If you want a wider collar the wide cobra knot will work nicely.. Hope this helps..
Great tutorial--I needed to make a 3"dog leash with the rest handle to clip on a service dog vest so the handle could be used as needed, but if it was left to hang on the vest in between uses, it would not get in the way.
a good, thin weave I could use? PS for the main body of the leash, I used the version of the cobra weave where you don't alternate sides when you knot, making the paracord spiral, then used the usual cobra for the handle. It worked really well, and i found the spiral in the main lead body is easier to grip with wet hands or gloves.
The collar is set up just like you would if you were making a bracelet. The leash I don't use my jig since they are so long. I have a hook on the wall that I use..
The videos I have up will give you the basic idea of how to make the whole thing. I'm sorry though I don't need a leash or I would make a video on the whole thing. It takes a lot of time and cord so by combining the videos I have put up will give you every thing you need all you need to do is the math on how much cord. I wish I could be of more help..
Hi, great video, really helped me make my first dog lead. I'd been wondering what the best way to turn the hand loop would be. I have a question though. This lead I made (with cobra knot worked out great for my big dogs, but I'm looking for a thinner/lighter leash to make for puppies/terriers. I know paracord is quite light, but in a six foot lead the weight adds up, and the leash ended up weighing nearly as much as my terrier. I could use just a single piece to hold him, but does anyone know
This is a great video ..I am just starting out and will be making my first traffic lead, is there a way to attach the clasp to this right from the start?
Ok you talked about the double kobra for the handle but what about how to do a doible kobra near the clip but like keeping the center part a single kobra?
I like how the core of the handle is 2 strands strong, tried a different style and the handle in the center broke once I added the king cobra weave to it
It's great adding a piece of cord to a loop. I've been racking my brain to do it front one continuous string. I did it once years ago and cant remember how I did it
I have 2 questions for you....one which knot do you recommend for the dog leash? And Also I am going to make adjustable collars for my dogs as well. The buckle I have is a one inch buckle, what knot would you recommend for making sure the collar is wide enough for the buckle but not so wide that it makes putting the end through the buckle.
Since mine won't be attaching to a longer leash, how would you recommend I anchor the loose ends to my clasp?.? If you did not tie the knot to hang on your jig, how would you just attach those 2 free ends to a clasp?
You can all ways do a 4 strand braid. A lot of people are using this making dog leads. But most people aren't making them 6 feet long so you could all so try the snake knot it is made with two strands and will be half the weight. I hop this helps.. ;o}
Mr. Coop, If you finish the loop around (the handle) using a single cobra and you don't want to go back around to do a double cobra, how do you finish it off?
That is helpful thank you! One more question if you don't mind...how do you set up the leash and collar on the jig since there isn't a buckle on each side? Sorry for all the questions, I'm still new at this! :)
Good luck with the collar and leash. As for the snap hook and buckle I would get the snap hook at you local Loews or some where like that. The buckles you can get from ebay. or Hobby Lobby carries a dog collar buckle. Hope all this helps ya..
You take the two color cobra bracelet and replace the buckles with a snap hook. continue to make it as long as you like the use this video to put you handle in place..
Hmmmmmm now that seems like it will be tricky. I really don't know unless you make it and then once it is made fold the handle part over and weave in to the leash.
No worries buddy my videos aren't coming down. To many people learn from them..LOL Heck yeah any time you want a jig just get with me buddy it makes it a lot easier than trying to do it all by hand.
