I agree with other posts. The essential topic is what I would like to know. Lots of extra talking. I was nearly 4 minutes in before it I heard what I really would like to know. Repeating the fact that your husband likes pine apple chunks over and over. I lost interest fast. Thanks for the actually tips though.
Hello. I'm new here. My landlord still hasn't been giving me my new oven so I've been using my crock pot. So I was looking for someone who knew how to make ham in the crock pot and I found you.
I injected one with Tony Chachere's then used pineapple and honey in a pan on the smoker. It was awesome. I'm just looking for easy recipes today because our Easter dinner is just going to be the wife and I this year.
Tony Chachere's FOR THE *WIN* !!! Everything is better with Tony's ... my second year at Penn State , in 2000, we had a Fraternity Brother who came up from New Orleans because he had some notion that going all the way to State College versus staying home at Baton Rouge would help him "stay out of trouble" looool... that didn't quite work out ... but anyway ... he was absolutely & positively AMAZED we never heard of "Tony's" ... WTF? "Tony Chachere's !!" ... === WTF? "Tony's SEASONING!!!" ... Uhh, what now?? Us NJ & PA boys had no idea ... he had his Mom send him up a bottle in the mail ... lool... a week later she had to send us up a CASE of it lol. We sprinkled that shit on EVERYTHING! I have a Ham in the Crock Pot right now, with potatoes and eggs cooking. Tony's on EVERYTHING son! 💛💯☠
That sounds like a good idea. I wasn't sure if I could cook a ham in a slow cooker. But I am going to try. What do I set the temperature to when starting to slow cook & for how long?
Got 2 minutes into the video, about the time she started talking about the processing of cured and whatever else she was going to say. Stopped video and now onto an actual video that's helpful for what I can try new for a change.
I have never cooked a ham with the bone before and have one I bought a couple days ago, and now just looking at it in my fridge. I had the vague idea of making ham soup. If you have any ideas? Thank you so much for putting this video up. I am going to try it but I have a few questions. I know it sounds dumb but do I put any water in the crock pot then just sprinkle some brown sugar over it and put the lid on? I don't have any pineapple or maple syrup.
First off you place the ham on a rack in a large pot on the stove, fill with water bring to a boil. Turn the heat off allow to cool to room temp. Then you remove the ham and rise it off squeezing the ham to release the salt from the pores. Then you put melted butter, brown sugar, honey, pineapple and vanilla in the bottom of the pot with liner, and stir it well. Now add the ham drizzle with honey and pack the brown sugar on top. Then gather the bag up twist it well and use a twist tie to seal it closed. Makes for a self basting ham! Turn on high setting for 1 hour to bring the ham up to temp, then turn to low for 6 hours. Your ham didn't soak up any of the glaze it was white after the first cut.
Do you have any suggestions as to what temp to cook it to IF I have a 3 hour transportation to our dinner destination. Would you cook it to about 100 and then plug it back in when we reach our destination? I don't want to dry it out.
I just found your channel ,, good video young lady. I don't know if you will even see this , I live south east of billings , ( not on the red though ) if you see this comment please let me know. Thank you Frank from montana.....
@@mrsmontanaranchertv5877 Sorry if I sound dumb, but is there any water in the bottom of the crock pot before you put the ham in. Do I put in the ham and then just sprinkle it with brown sugar and put the lid on?
My plan, pineapple strewn to keep whole cloves and ginger pieces on top... Just looking for justification for the 7-qt slow cooker with a 8.5 lb ham... Thank you
As far as the meat temperature of ham it’s not important for safety since ham is cured and may be eaten prior to cooking in a crockpot or anything else for that matter. So you don’t need your thermometer for ham.
@Mrs.MontanaRancher: Really enjoyed your video. I came across your recipe when I searched for cooking a ham in a crock pot. The ham I'll cook tomorrow while I'm at work will be this recipe. I have everything I need in the pantry. My ham is 12lbs & yes I bought it on sale before Easter then froze it. I can't wait until dinner tomorrow for the results and leftovers! Thank you for sharing. Happy to have come across your video.
HowdyI'm Montanan born and raised, unfortunately in SoCal dictatorship now, but looking for one of those Ranches that sells Beef , like a side of beef butchered , labeled and wrapped for ourselves and gifts ! Do you folks do this ? Or know who still might do this? Thank you and thanks for the great recipes, MERRY CHRISTMAS from Montana Mitch ,,, John 3:17-19
First time watching her. Incase she doesn't answer questions ? Her slow cooker looks 2 be size of mine, which is a 6 quart Crock Pot. I have done a large ham in it, came out fine...This cooking on the counter method, as I call it allows more space in oven 2 cook more food such as casseroles/side dishes, Roast Beef 4 ppl who don't care 4 pork...Enjoy

As I need to know as one of my kinsman was one of the founding fathers of conservation movement in the USA and my first dog a GSD came from the state of Idaho, the name of the founding fathers was John Muir, can you help me please as you live in cowboy country Monta 🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🏇, By the way do you have,or still cook out of a Chuck wagon ?👍
Little bit of advice mrs. Montana you have to cook the ham in a slow cooker not your talking in a slow cooker you're going to lose views if you want more views way too much talking I literally had to find another video because I was tired of waiting for you to show us how you cook a ham
You could slice a piece of that ham off right out of the package and eaten it with no problem. You don't have to worry about "safety zone" with cooking ham. It just needs to be hot.
Yikes, lots of chatter. Found you because I am cooking my first ham ever tomorrow AM and did a search. WAAAAAYYYYY to much talking though. No wonder she hasn't posted in 2 years.
Starts at 4:10...your welcome. Hate people that think they can be a RU-vid star and just throw a video up and think it will get thousands of views and subscribers but it's a crap video. Just get to the point of the topic of the video. Enough with blabbing for 4 minutes about stupid nonsense.
Next time could you put time stamps on video if your going to ramble and have a whole conversation before actually instructing the actual cooking process. Please. Would help.i dont care about history of ham, your family, what they eat, or any of that.
