Dear Sir, you are using a MIG welder {Properly known as GMAW for Gas Metal Arc Welding} with rusty metal and are having all sort of trouble getting adhesion. Clean your metal of the rust prior to attempting welding and it will go together much easier. MIG welding is a start, run and flow method of welding, not a poke, poke, poke method you are using. Cheers.

great idea to make a bender, no welding hood, please exercise some safety, at least for your own self, im a ex welding instructor and holding nine welding certifications you can enroll in the community college and take an arc welding basic class wear a proper face shield with the proper welding lens , boots and gloves.... in 20 years in the shipbuilding business industry I saw a lot of people die get Maned.. and hurt in the old days....

Safety first my friend before you do your job

Idea of using bearings is tempting, but you really need to be careful with this kind of ideas. It's VERY dangerous as bearing steel is so hard that it's brittle and it will crack without warning and it's not question of if that happens, it's about when it happens, it'll shoot incredible sharp shards of metal everywhere. It will virtually explode. So if making something like this, wear at minimum full face shield and thick overalls, trust me. This has two potential accidents to happen. When you're bending and leaning at force and when it gives suddenly you're about 100% guaranteed to hit yourself something and at worst case you might at the same time get those sharp shards.

Somebody must take that welding machine away from him otherwise he will weld everything
