Once our children thought it would be fun to mix up ALL of their puzzle pieces. It took several days to right the situation. We came up with the idea of stamping the back each piece and the inside of the box with one particular stamp. When we later would come across an errant puzzle piece we could easily know where it belonged.
I am so glad I cam across your video! I was really cringing at the prices online for a puzzle board/table - especially when they’re not big enough for my bigger puzzles (2500-5000 pieces). I think I can talk hubby into making this for me since he has all the tools (but doesn't trust me to use them and not hurt myself!). Im thinking about lining the bottoms of the drawers with felt, maybe the work surface too. Now to find a way to add a “lid” to it … !
Haha, thanks David!! Every project is usually one that has something different and there are ALWAYS mistakes. That's how we learn, right? 🥰 Thank you for the fun comment!
Great video! I've seen a few of these DIY puzzle board vids and yours is the best one. More informative than the men and you actually use a square to mark straight lines. Puzzle boards with drawers can cost anywhere between $60 and $120 so this is great!
I love doing puzzles that's why I do them on my tablet cause store puzzles have gotten really expensive . Great tutorial blessings to you and your Familia
Festool & Woodpeckers RESPECT Kid!! But, still representing good ol fashioned Ryobi for us novices too!! Cool project Serena. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
You know it!! I do understand that there will always be newbie's who are watching these videos and they won't know what a track saw is, or may not want or be able to afford more professional tools. So there will always be a tried and trusty stock of RYOBI! :) Hope you're doing well, Mike! How's that garage? Did you ever finish? You'll be excited to know that I decided to put a real workshop in my backyard! Coming this summer!!!
@@ThriftDiving Garage is moving at a snail's pace. As soon as I added shelves I blew them out because I bought more equipment & wifey bought more Holiday decorations!! But, don't you worry you'll def. be one of the ppl. I send pics. too & tag!! Congrats on the new shop & looking forward to the projects that will come from it!!
I *just* bought a jigsaw puzzle. It will be delivered on Thursday. A few weeks ago I also bought (2) 6’ folding tables, one for my garage and one for my office/craft room. I have a small house (960 sq ft) and take care of my grandsons who don’t go in my craft room. 💡 I CAN do jigsaw puzzles! Lol. I used to do them all the time with my daughter. She was 10/11. Now she’s almost 33. I only got 500 pieces so I can ease on into it! I drool over your tools. I did buy a Ryobi jig saw based on watching you! You should tell them we do buy what you use! Can you link that saw? It looks pretty cool. Maybe not as cumbersome as a full on table saw?
Oh oh! Use a plane sander on boards that are warped like that. It'll take a little off the board thickness but save you from wasting the material. I love your video and will definitely be making this. Thank you!
Was thinking of making one of these and these instructions are perfect. Thanks for posting. Thinking of mounting it to a lazy susan swivel so I can turn it.
I love puzzles. And would love to crest something like this for my puzzles so that they are not everywhere on the table. And possible pieces lost which of course is the most disappointing part of a puzzle when putting it all together. Thanks for the idea.
I love doing puzzles also. I started out getting them for my great nephews when they would come to my place and I have been doing them ever sense. I could use a good puzzle table like yours. I have mine on a table in my family room but no place to put all the pieces. This would be great so I could lay it on the floor and push under my bed when I am not working on it.
I have several puzzles that are waiting to be framed. One was 2000 pieces, the others 1000-1500. I'm about to start a 1000 piece soon. I love puzzles and would definitely benefit from this.
I love your handiness and skills! Great project! My sister may need this. I just think it would be super expensive if I built it and then shipped it from Massachusetts to California.
Hi there from Germany, Thanks for your awesome Explanation. After viewing your vid, I am planing to do a Puzzle Board of my own, to fit it my way. But i've got a question left: why didn't you do a closed railing on top? Is there a reason you left the bottom "open" without a railing? Thank you 🎉
I just heard of these! It came up as a recommended buy on my Amazon. They charge over $70 for them. I love doing puzzles but my cats make it hard for me to do them.
Awesome video and great explanation. This is exactly what I need to start making. Thanks for the inspiration. I have an old one but I like the little details you added like the drawer knobs. Someday I'd like to revamp this for a more mobile puzzle service.
I love puzzles, but unfortunately I also have an extra table that I can work them on so I don't need one of these boards 🙁😆 I will consider making them for friends...if I get started now I might be done in time for Christmas, lol.
I am searching hard on video and blog, but a cut list would be most helpful….for instance..the wooden strips are 34 inches by 1 inch by what exactly - no size is given as far as I can see. Panel boards are not all the same you see.. sorry to be picky, but I cannot start without a full list of materials and the rest is sooo good.
Hey , Selena...this is gorgeous. Love your videos they have been very useful. Would you please show us how to make a simple DIY live edge coffee/side table
may i ask if there's a way to prevent the drawers from falling out when you want to move the puzzle board? if not, you have carry it flat. is there a way to stop drawers from sliding out? thanx!
What can we put on the top, if we want to cover the unfinished puzzle (for another time) and we can' t leave it horizontal but we have to storage it vertical? Is there any solution? Something to hold it in place? How we can make It like case? (Sorry for any language mistake) By the way, its awesome!!!
Oh ya, super simple to make with "just a few simple tools you probably already have around the house" ... great tutorial, but anyone who already has those tools and equipment won't be the ones watching.
I noticed at the end of the video, one side of the puzzle board does not have the pine trim and there is a carrying handle on that side. Is the trim left off to be able to slide the puzzle off that side of the board after it has been put together?
What a fantastic idea sunshine. I'm a puzzle nut. 🤗 Great tutorial. HGTV needs to hire you. You do amazing work. Passionate. Great personality. Stay Blessed. 🥰
Love it. I think I will add a fabric cover to protect the pieces while not working on the puzzle. I think two thin dowels with fabric, and a couple tabs on outside of frame to stretch fabric dowels over should keep from kids or cats losing pieces!
No, Home Depot and Lowe's doesn't cut precise cuts such as this. However, if you're willing to learn how to use a jigsaw (the tool), you could easily make these cuts yourself. Here's the tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hfJBghWqYI0.htmlsi=XkrUFIvn1oDnDNB5
I’m going to make this but I’m having a problem finding mdf in large enough sheets. Home Depot only carries 3/16 or 1/4 inch in 2’x4’ sheets. Do you think underlay would work?
Love the DIY video just would love to know where you got the price of $20.00 or less. 3/16th MDF for the amount you used by itself is $40 or more from all stores I've seen. wife and I just built one about the same size with some drawers and it was just at $100 for everything.
I just priced as well but my calculations differ. 2 pieces of tempered DMF $24; 1 piece hobby board $5. So, not $20 like I figured, but $30+tax at Home Depot is still reasonable. I need the tools too so I’ll be spending well over $100 I’m sure. Hope your board came out great and how you wanted!
I love it! You have a new subscriber...🎉 It just so happens, I've been wanting to get my daughter one, but I'd rather make it due to the prices... Thank you for sharing...🤗
Great idea and tutorial. I try to be supportive and watch ads all the way through, but I had to skip the ad I encountered on this video. I know your keep your channel family friendly, but my ad was a music video with a dude rapping/singing about women's genitalia. I know that's not in line with your channel so I wanted to make you aware in case there's something you could do about it. Love your content!!
