In this video I show you how to make a simple Rectangles block using 5" squares. This is a great block for using up a variety of different colours or making a simple 3-colour quilt. www.gourmetquilter.com
Hi ,this is Kristie again. Really like this idea for making a quilt. Another thing, I caught it when you said that you work better if you press as you go. I strongly agree with you on that. If I don't, my seams don't always come out the way I want them to. So if I do, it's easier to work. Thank you very much.
This was one of the best videos I have seen so far in my new journey of learning patchwork. I will definitely do this for my next quilt. I really enjoyed your teaching style. Thank you
Love these patterns. I just ordered some beautiful Moda charm packs and I am going to make one of these patterns. Thank you for making it easy for us newbies.
I love watching u showing us how to do easy projects, and pretty projects too. i love your sewing room, can you do a video on your sewingroom one day, thank u.
Marla, Am thinking you're referring to placing 2 5"squares, right sides together, sew down 2 opposite sides, then cut them in half, iron. (For the newby sewers)
Love your style of teaching you explain very well !!! How many 5 inch squares is needed for this baby quit? If I counted correctly I’m guessing around 24.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have finishing cutting my material and am ready to begin piecing! I am a novice. I've only completed a couple of quilts and for those I quilted on both side of the ditch rather than in the ditch. Echo quilting? What might you suggest for the quilting component for a beginner?
I love this, thank you for this help I want to make my momma a lap quilt for her to use in her wheel chair, if I may ask, how many blocks would use across for a nice size lap quilt?
I like this how to make a rectangle block using 5' squares from feb 15, 2013. Do you have a video on how to put the batting and backing together to finish this? I am just going to start to make one I don't know how so it would be nice and thank you so much.
Hello, I've followed your cutting instructions a T and at the end of the finished block I end up with a measurement on my finished block as 4 inches by 6 inches...1/2 " difference to the dimensions you gave (?)
Since im wanting to make a king size quilt like this, how many 5 inch squares do you recommend i purchase? im gonna be buying the precut charm packs... im so bad with math and quilting! lol
