If the epoxy is 'self-leveling', then how do you maintain a slope within the shower pan? I've been considering doing this project but don't want to end up with a level surface (that will not drain properly).

I am facing a project of replacing or repairing the floor of my shower. It was cracked you can still feel it move and hear it under the repair that was done. The repair was done, as I was informed, using spray foam under t floor and a thick coat of "Flex Seal" on it ... The spot is soft .. cover with concrete ten epoxy?

I've got a travel trailer that I want to renovate entirely and the bathroom is first thing. This idea is spot on. The base for the shower is very similar to yours, odd shape. I also want to drop the floor a few inches below the original floor which will require some planning because the holding tank is underneath. I'd like to incorporate a slab of tree trunk like they are using for the tables . It'll take some time, not a quick project but it looks awesome in my mind right now. Hopefully I'll do a video of it and I'm open to any ideas on this. Thanks for sharing your video that has inspired me to do this.

Very cool!! This confirms my idea is possible so thank you so much! I have a small bathroom alcove with an odd size that won't fit a standard tub and it will cost over 700 dollars to get a fiberglass tub that will fit. I always shower so going to just do away with the tub and change it to a shower only. I can customize this to the colors in my bathroom floor - marbled gray, white, and silver shades. :D I just rebuilt that bathroom from floor up so have some leftover close to marine grade plywood and 2x4s that I can use for the shower pan. :D - Heidi

Same here - this is exactly what I am doing in my camper - in fact I'm right in the middle of it. I've used fiberglass matting for strength, but it is a major PITA to get the matting to conform to the tight radius corners etc - it would have been so much easier to use plain resin without the reinforcement, but I was too concerned about the shower pan cracking (no I'm not that heavy :)) So I would love to know if this pan stayed crack-free! Thanks!

@billsmith7673

I, too, was wondering about the flexibility of the epoxy. I've been researching epoxy for a good while. I've been told it shouldn't be used over wood because it's not flexible and will crack when the wood flexes. However, I have read that there are some types that will flex. I think wooden boat builders use some type of epoxy, but not sure about that.

Those were craft paints you get from Hobby Lobby or a similar craft store. They have hundreds of colors and they come in small bottles.

make & do cool. So your standard acrylic or enamel craft paint? Looks like it didn’t affect the curing or finish of the epoxy. Looks awesome! Was planning on an epoxy shower in my campervan. So glad I found this video. Thanks!

Yeah, the paint colors will not affect the curing or finish of the epoxy. It works great. Good luck with your camper shower.

I have to say after having built custom showers in the past I would not recommend this it looks cool but it is not a proven shower base method. I have many concerns about this to many to even mention.

I think it's beautiful, but I worry that it would be really slippery

Looks so cool, but I would never do that unless I have a death wish, as if showers weren’t slippery enough.

It's definitely cool but there no slope so you cannot do this with a household shower.

You didn’t use fiberglass I’m assuming your structure doesn’t move. If you’re doing this in an RV you HAVE to use fiberglass or the epoxy will crack very bad. I tried. 😂

I saw this in your other video that covered the rebuild after the wreck. And both those views and these of the shower pan - the blue water looks like a whale. Am I the only one seeing that? The nose of the whale is at the drain.

I am afraid that your epoxy coat is way too thin. If it was thicker your art work would not be forced. Even two more thin coats would be good each time adding a 3D to the art you created. From the side view the surface does not seem to be smooth. Sanding between coats creates a better bond. One more thing, more accidents occur in bathroom from slick surfaces? Shower surfaces? Epoxy is glass like. Maybe my concerns are not founded. but who knows.

Great project! Did you use anything to seal the wood seams other than the brushed on epoxy?
@augustrich
@augustrich 2 года назад
There is seam specific epoxy or he added more hardener ? I would like to know what he’s putting this in I hope it isn’t an RV… no fiberglass in that resin the road will crack it to pieces. I put 4800 miles on a epoxy pan with no fiberglass and it basically exploded lol. Was terrible to remove too shards and stuff stabbing me.

I use fiberglass mat and cloth with epoxy I wouldn’t use this type of pan in a moving vehicle without a locking substrate such as fiberglass mat or cloth….
