So I made a schedule yesterday and today I tried it....and I'm all caught up on laundry and dishes and I even vacuumed! I am notorious for forgetting about laundry so I I decided that first thing after I have my coffee I would throw a load in, then at lunch put it in the dryer and then at 3:00 I put it away. I feel kind of silly for not thinking of it sooner but this video really helped organize my thoughts. Tomorrow will be a better test, my husband will be at work, so it'll be just me and the kids...but it was encouraging to get things done! Thanks for sharing what you do, its been a huge help!

WOW! It's becoming more evident to me how you are able to be the mother of eight children and not be afraid. :-) I'm retired and I can't seem to find enough time in the day to do everything I'd like to do. So I guess this is part of the reason (no schedule!). I've been lazy and had the mindset that being retired means I have the right to be relaxed and lollygag throughout my day. I needed to see this video to be reminded to get back on a schedule. I know that what we monitor we manage better. Since being diagnosed with diabetes almost four years ago, I've been keeping a food diary that also includes blood sugar readings, exercise, etc. and a few other items that have helped me keep off diabetes meds, lose weight and feel healthier. Now I need to get on the stick and manage the rest of my day and week with a schedule like this. You did a fine job of showing the details of how to do this in WORD (In past years I've done similar ones in Excel). I really like the idea of leaving room to pencil in (and maybe erase/rewrite) things in the empty space. Thanks for the inspiration!

We are new to homeschooling this year and have struggled with planning and making eye appealing schedules. I’m so thankful she did these videos and that they are here to still enjoy!!

Thank you for showing how to do all of these charts on microsoft word. This has been such a help. Now that it is summer would you share how your schedule looks. And maybe as the seasons change fall and winter as well. I love your channel! Thanks for the amazing videos! :)

I'm listening to where you said that making decisions if often the most challenging part of getting organized (28:30). I like to say that I prefer to "think once," meaning that I plan my work, then I can work my plan. I am looking forward to getting back on track in the new year, as this past year was challenging and a struggle for me due to helping an elderly extended family member. Thank you for the inspiration and education!

This was great! I'm always interested in how other homeschooling moms organize their days. Do you have any tips/advice on how to get schooling done when you have littles? My oldest just started first grade but I am having difficulty getting his independent work done as there is always a 3 year old and infant needing me.

I found homeschooling most difficult when I was in your same place. My oldest wanted to play with the little ones and it was hard getting him to focus on school. Looking back, I probably should have thought outside the box more on what time we did things. I tried to operate on regular school hours and it wasn't easy. Doing school during nap time would have been ideal. Putting the little ones to bed earlier at night and doing school after they went to bed would have worked, too. I have "school" things for my little ones to do if they want to be with the big kids during school time. They do puzzles, color, etc. Once they do that for a little while, they usually run along to play elsewhere. In a couple of years when the balance tips toward more children doing school and fewer playing and being a distraction, life will get easier.

Andrea, how do you get the columns all on one page?
@TheMillsFamilyVlog
@TheMillsFamilyVlog 8 лет назад
You can set the width of the columns using the Table Properties menu that pops up when you right click. If that doesn't work, you can set the paper to landscape instead of portrait. One final thing is that if your font size is too big, the columns/rows won't get smaller even if you set the size you want. Highlight all the cells and then change the font to a smaller one.

All of columns won't fit on one page. I have done what was suggested and still none of it will work.
@TheMillsFamilyVlog

Something to check... Right click on the table somewhere and go to Table Properties. Then choose the tab that says Table (rather than column, row or cell.) Make sure the width of the table is the right size to fit on your page. Sometimes it resets itself to a larger size and changing the size of the columns won't work. If you reset the table size, everything should start fitting again.
