How to Make a Self Scratcher for Cats 

Suggestions are always helpful but all these critics and none could come up with this great idea. Thank you.

This video has inspired me to put hinges on everything I can find unnecessarily...

Why are the hinges needed? The brushes could both be stuck in with the double-sided tape and be fine without any hinges.

I guess the hinges are to stabilized both brushes so they aren't moved that much when cat gives force unto the brush. Well just a thought, but it's pretty cool idea! Your cat could gone crazy if you put catnips 😂😂

I plan to get a stool and make it a scratching post, place where toys dangle, and place where my cat can climb. I like this idea. I can add it to the leg of the stool. I’m excited to make my cat this play structure. He will enjoy all the things on each leg and being able to sit on it. 😊

That's very smart with the hinges. When I watched this video, I thought that super glue or gun glues would be faster and easier but for hinges to make it stabled and portable, that's just a wonderful idea! I might try it :D

I have seen the tougher bristle ones for sale. And I've also seen the injuries that come from those tougher bristled scratchers that you can buy. This looks softer. Like the cat could not as easily into themselves. I like it.

Skip the hinges. And don't use permanent double sided tape. Use 3M Command Strips instead.They are removable and won't leave any residue on your furniture.

Great idea! I'm going to do the same, but with heavy duty Velcro, so it can be taken off and cleaned, or moved to a more suitable place, if needed. Did you use shoe polishing brushes?

A really great idea! Your cat is an amazing "twin" of my blotched ginger rascal! My buddy HATES to be brushed by me - using "paws and claws" if I do not keep away after the first warnings - so I will try this, too.

I had no idea cats like brushes rub on their faces. The way you do it is very easy! Another way that can be sticked on is hot glue.

Verry nice idea, but why the hindges? It is glued on with tape anyway. That would work without the hindges as well, would it not?

My cat kept stealing the toilet bowl brush, so I bought one just for the cat. He cleaned his teeth, rubbed on it, dragged it around. Wore down the bristles. He lived 16 years, never lost teeth.
