Chad Stanton(The Big Chopperoo) shows you how to make a old world style classic, a Shaker Candle Box, using nothing but hand tools. Free Plans for the Shaker Candle Box available at www.woodchoppin...
Thank you everyone for your encouragement and for welcoming us back. I would really like to be more frequent with videos. But work is demanding. Hopefully with Bret's help, we are going to try to do more. Thanks again.
Good to see you guys back. Note: I would never wipe glue off my fingers on the undersides of my bench... it will contaminate my extensive booger collection!
Glad you guys are back out here. Great Video. Man you must have every type of hand planer ever made. The sound affects were a good addition and I think you have been secretly practicing your dancing. Looking pretty smooooooth. Oh, did I see Safety Dan "about" to actually crack a smile?
Glad to see you guys back! I was thinking that maybe you guys got kidnapped. Taryn must have either paid the ransom or rescued you guys. lol Whatever, it's glad to see you back. Thanks for the video.
Yeeeee Haaaaw A new video, always enjoy your videos. Hopefully, at some point you will be able to put out more videos, even if they are only quick how-to's
BEERMAN684 Hey thanks for stopping by! Glad you enjoy the show. I'm sure Safety Dan would enjoy your accompany, who wouldn't with a name like BEERMAN! Thanks again for watching.
I made a box like this for my Stanley 45. I used machines for parts of it though (1/2 inch finger joints for the sides on table saw). Will have make another one using hand tools. You made it look fun.
+Chad Stanton There has got to be an invention idea in there somewhere ... like a big post-it-note-like pad under the bench that you can wipe you fingers on, then lets you just remove the build-up by removing the top sheet. Or, maybe I need to get a life.
Well, it was interesting! You've reminded me "Home improvement" show ;-) where one man knows everything, but shows not and the other makes everything ;_)
fiberinspector Joe Gohman is actually a good friend of mine. I just like to give him a hard time. If you would like to bother him too you can find him on Facebook. facebook.com/joegohmandesign?fref=ts
Probly before u guys time, but Roy Underhill had an episode making this same box only his had two hidden compartments and splayed sides. Try to give credit where it due next time.
He did give credit where it's due--to the Shakers! Lots of us make Saker style boxes & furniture...and by calling it Shaker style furniture, we give credit where it's due.
I always like the hand tools, but you showed all how to make the box with a set of tools that would cost more than a medium table saw. I would love the rabit plane but they are more costly than a router.
+Jim Sensbach That can be true. But I have a rabbet plane form Woodcraft and it was only $35. And the other old planes i bought on ebay around the same price. For me it's not about cost of the tools but the history and technique. Thanks for watching
Try yard & estate sales for very low cost antique hand tools. Typically, the family just wants to get rid of Grand Dad's old tools. They don't even know what they are, let alone how to price them.
So really...how do you make a "Shaker" box...I thought they were a peace loving people? Wait a minute you said "Little Shaker" I did not think they had kids did they?
