My daughter needs a bookcase for her bedroom. Last night she said, "Let's wait until Bob builds one, and then we can do it like that!" Your timing is impeccable Bob.
I often think, when watching build videos, that everyone else must have super accurate cuts and tools... so thanks for pointing out that you have to cut things more than once sometimes. and that boards are not always straight. Good stuff, thanks!
I love the simple projects. Bringing it back to basics is nice. Note: I’m not complaining about the more complicated ones, I love those too! It would be fun to see you ridiculously over complicate a video like this with a CNC, 3D printer, and a laser. Maybe find someone with a local plasma cutter and involve that too. Just for all the haters. Great job as usual. Thanks for the content.
Really a simple built, pretty sturdy and strong. Totally making this! Exactly like this one, especially with the Optimus figure on top hahahaha One of the best channels, that's for sure!
This video couldn't come at a better time! Now that my partner and I have been in our new home for a few months, we're finally ready to start tackling some of the projects we've been putting off and building a bookcase (along with some other storage) is definitely on the list. Thanks for the helpful/inspirational video as always!
Love the new intro Bob. Nice update with all your projects. Like the use roof rack mounting too. Didn't realise you could buy just brackets. So many possibilities now.
I have looked at several different methods of floating shelf installation here on RU-vid. I have to say I like your method the best so far. Good job! 2:59
Awesome build Bob! I'm a big networking guy so this will be a great office/home datacenter desk build one day as it offers solid storage for all the equipment and as you said, the design can totally be modified to work as a desk. Adding cooling for the networking equipment would also be a super fun addition along with (of course) nifty lighting. Well you officially got my creativity going... off to the big box store...
I added shelves to my old headboard that my grandfather built for me when I was a kid. I highly recommend using pegboard as a budget friendly shelf pin guide. I picked up a piece from the 70% off bin at home depot for $2.50
Love it. Looking to building something like this for a quick microwave toaster oven shelf. One thing, I have racked a lot of equipment. I usually like to leave some room between the components for air flow. If you don't want to see the gaps they make perforated 1u plates.
That bookcase turned out really well. It is something I was thinking of, though I would be making it a custom fit for a computer, medical equipment and bookcase.
Top job! Liking the audio racking, I have to build some sort of case to hold some computer equipment, this may be just the thing for my next project :)
The trick with integrating only the rails instead of a rack for the audio equipment is really awesome! I will definitely keep that idea for my next project! :)
The amount of clamps was awesome lol this was literally a perfect video and time to post it for me we just re organized the living room and have a space that this would fit perfectly in and now I have a easy to follow tutorial for a strong shelf!! Thanks for the easy solution!
VERY Nice Bob. Awesome job. I am looking forward to the day when I can figure out what I need to build something like this. Thanks for showing how easy it is to make such a nice piece!
love it. I especially like how you included the audio rack. I didn't know you could just buy the mounts. You've gone and inspired me once again. Thanks bro!
You're obviously a great builder! I'm not sure this is so easy to do, esp if you don't have the super pro equipment and space that you have. You do make it look easy, but as most of us know, somebody who really knows what they're doing will make it look easy.
Another great video, easy to follow for newbies like myself. Your a man of many talents and one I look forward to watching every week. Have a great weekend. I've just started my very own channel, it's shocking really. So nervous. You guys make it look so easy. 👍🏻👍🏻 Just made a mitersaw station using an old kitchen I got for free. And a home made saw stop for repetitive cuts. Can't wait till next Friday.
Nice build! Quick tip I've heard is if you buy non-iron on or make your own veneer; add regular white glue to the back in a thin layer, let it dry & heat just as you would the regular iron on veneer!
It turned out beautiful! I want to build my daughter a bookshelf just a a bit taller and smaller than how you made this one, and paint it white! Thank you so much for such a great video!
Quality, quality content. Nice work brother! You have a new subscriber. I just wish I found this channel out earlier. You're AWESOME!! Could you one day do a shop tour with an overview of your tools, especially the ones you use and rely on the most?
That looks really nice. This was a good, general info build that I think a lot of people will go for. I know that is sort of your goal, to inspire people to try to build stuff.
Nice work Bob. Ever so slightly envious at the Synology box you're running too. Big Synology advocate and it seems to be quite popular with us makers which is nice.
I've always used a utility knife and sponge sanding block but recently saw some little trimmers made specifically for it. I might check them out to save time. I covered how I do it a little more in the recent bunk bed video.
Nice job. This is perfect timing as I will e building a bookshelf very soon and as I could have probably figured it out this is a good video to make sure I don't screw it up lol.
Woah, that intro is amazing! I can't believe I hadn't noticed it before, but it is awesome! Also, that's an awesome bookshelf, After I graduate college, I may use this design for furnishing my first place.
I'm new to woodworking but I'm just starting to get into shelving and I've already found that there's 3 sizes of shelf pins: 5mm, 6mm, and .25". I know what you're saying: "bah, 6mm is a quarter inch!" But I've tried using a 6mm in a quarter inch hole and the fit was just a tiiiiny bit loose. I don't know, maybe it's in my head. I bought all three kinds of pins just in case, but I'm using the 5/6mm going forward because that's the Kreg jig I have.
