In this follow along video I will show you how to make a leather dog collar and how easy it is to make the leather dog collar more elaborate. This is a great beginner project that will help you to improve your basic leather craft skills. This leather dog collar project uses simple construction skills and with a few extra steps takes your simple leather dog collar to a wow leather dog collar project. This is a great gift idea or an additional item for your craft show table. You can use shorter lengths of leather from other projects to make these leather dog collars.
You can use these same skills to make belts and other “strap” related projects. Great video! Could you tell me why you use two thin layers rather than one thicker leather? Does that impact the overall strength of the finished collar?

The top most part of the leather hide is the most durable. So be using two layers of the top most part of the hide it’s much stronger. Very little stretch. When I’m making dog collars and belts I end up with at least 10oz if not 12 oz of leather.

Good question. I purchased the cloth bags from u-line and had the rubber stamp made. That way I can purchase other size cloth bags or even paper bags. I have also stamped shipping boxes.
