I can smell the freshness of the rosemary and cedar and pine (spruce?). Smells wonderful! I can't tell from here that there are silk flowers in the arrangement. It looks so pretty and fresh and full of spring. So lovely. I love the addition of moss. I liked the door design too. Thanks for reposting it!

I love adding herbs from the garden to arrangements at classes, they burst with green and lovely smells, which add a new dimension to your flowers. Must admit, I'm not a lover of silk flowers, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the demonstration, and the arrangement with greenery and artificial looks very fresh and natural. Might have to rethink silk flower avoidance. Thanks John 😊

It's never been something I've enjoyed - either one or the other, for me. However, you've managed to do both your fresh greens and the floral silks justice here and my hat is off to you! I know what you mean and I think this comes from the quality of faux flowers in the past - but now they are pretty good ( ok you can buy a range of qualities and that is reflected in the prices of the stems ). These are pretty realistic - and now I have the benefit that this will last a lot longer - but i won’t have the same scent from them! Hope you have a great week! 🌷🌼🪻

This is a great design! Very natural with highs and lows, for example by the cones I like that you left that open. I love to reuse old foam as a way of filling in empty space in a large container.
I’ve been watching the creation of some Japanese ikabana (?) flower arrangements. They have a technique which ‘helps’ real flowers and foliage to flow in the direction of the arrangement they are making. Even cherry blossom branches can be ‘made’ to flow in a shape which is pleasing to their eye. It was fascinating - single narcissus leaves were ‘stroked’ into all kinds of shapes and directions…and they used only natural materials- and the occasional flower frog - to shape their designs. Oasis etc. is so not sustainable. That said, at least you reused your silk flowers in a pleasing way.
Yes, these manipulation techniques are very interesting and handy to know. This design isn’t ikebana, but there is a lot to learn from the ikebana style about sustainability. 🌼 the challenge is bringing going sustainability into commercial work
