Earth Fire by Allyn Ransom is one favorite. Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien and The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis.

Good Morning! I’d like to lie down on the ground/grass, but my neighbors would come running to help me up & I’d need help because of my “friend” Arthritis! I guess that would give me a good opportunity to say why I was there? Not sure I want to try it though. It has always been so easy to tell myself what I can’t do or be. I like to work in the background and very seldom think what I do or say has much of an impact. These mornings with John are making me re-think. God Loves me, I have no doubt, but then I wonder if God thinks I could-a would-a should-a…! I have those thoughts. I have reached the age and status of being an old Grandma and I find that there is still more to learn and understand. Thank You, John, and all who are responsible for making these daily “gifts” a reality.

Hmmmmm....let me think. How would you view me if I had an absolute cure for arthritis, at no monetary cost to you...and yet, I didn't want to share it because of my fear of not being taken seriously or making an impact? What if that gift was even greater, like eternal life and salvation through Jesus?!?! (You got this, just use your words...and FYI, the Holy Spirit will guide you!)...Thanks for watching! Rob

My first thought was, “my floors are dirty and full of dog hair”. Then I thought, “use your bed” and that is what I’ll do. ❤ I am so grateful and I do love God but I don’t often tell Him that, which is why I need these morning reminders. Thank you! ❤

This poem by Robert Hayden reflects this principle so well.. thanks for the reminder. - Mary Sundays too my father got up early and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold, then with his cracked hands that ached from labor in the weekday weather made banked fires blaze. No one ever thanked him. I’d wake and hear the cold splintering, breaking, When the rooms were warm, he’d call and slowly I would rise and dress, fearing the chronic angers of that house, Speaking indifferently to him who had driven out the cold and polished my good shoes as well. What did I know, what did I know of love’s austere and lonely offices?

Okay... I'm starting to have teary eyes every morning after my Become New moment. John, you are touching something in me that hasn't been stirred in a while. I am coming to think that my labors in the ministry for thirty some years now might actually be worth something. Measuring one's value in Kingdom work can be difficult to determine after years and years of investment in the local church. I am, today, grateful to submit yet another prayed over, researched well, order of worship for this coming Sunday, in hopes that some soul will, in some small way, find themselves becoming new before our good and gracious God.

Dr Willard mentioned that Mother Teresa taught those who worked with her to smile. Love begins with a smile, she is to have said. Jesus mentioned giving a cup of water in his name. Paul said if we don’t love our service is of no value. Thank you, John, for your work here.

John, this is excellent! I often think about God's revelation thruout scripture in the Small. One of my favorite novels is Jane Eyre...another story of the triumph of the Small into a great love.

I love Brother Lawrence! He lived life so simply and knew how to be present to people. I also love Mother Teresa! My hope is that each of us would "Do small things with great love!"
