Enjoyed hearing your take on brewing compost teas. I have gravitated toward a very similar mix, though I have added ACV, Garrett Juice Pro, mycorrhizae and trichoderma fungi from 2 sources and Agricola's High Octane Mineralized Organic Fertilizer which includes Azomite and many of the minerals and sands and rocks you touched on. I grind it up in a coffee grinder to make it superfine so that it will be more readily soluble in the tea . I use an inline water dechlorinator and a circular wound blubber frame that fits into the bottom of my 5 gal bucket. It seems to work well. I know it's probably overkill, but our soil in N. Texas is very alkaline black clay and it can use all the help it can get.

Are you concerned about the coffee grinder destroying too much of the causing the microbe population?

I see people asking for field trials, and others giving them channels to watch, and saying it's not worth it. I have watched some of these trials. They use this on great well kept soils. Soils abundant in microbes, trace minerals and so on. Of course for them, they don't see much difference, but if you have soil(AKA dirt) that needs a lot of TLC, then it's great. The worse the soil is, the better it works. Is still good to use once, or twice a year on good soil, just to keep it tweaked to it's best performance. I had red clay in part of my garden. I mixed my diy compost in with it, and used compost tea on it. A couple months later I could crumple that clay in my hands when it was wet. It no longer was sticky. .......................... Thanks for all the videos you make to help gardeners to do better.

I also strain (several times) and dilute ( 50/50 with R/O, rain or clean air bubbled water) with my tea and add both to a spray bottle to do a foliar feeding at the same time as I do a soil feeding. I feed either early morning or late evening to avoid the water amplifying the day sunlight and burning the leaves. Have extra clean water available (second sprayer) if you notice leaves discoloring wash with clean water immediately. This rarely happens but sometimes to much guano is added by accident. Better to be prepared then not, lol. I also like to add fish emulsions and blood or bone meal, just depends if vegging or flowering. Suggest bird guano for vegging and bat guano for flowering. Yes I grow fruits and medicine and it works for both. Also you didn't show or mention that after 48 hours if the tea doesn't have a foamy beer froth it didn't make the microbes and discard it. If it smells really fishy rotten discard it.

I enjoyed your video on super charged tea. I make microbes using a rice mix along with milk and then molasses. I think this is called lactobacillus. I use a air pump in afive gallon bucket with about four gallons of water when I make my tea. My question is would it be benificial when making your super charged tea to put the lactobacillus in?

you should try first steering away from animal compost and stick with things like leaf mold compost, fungal compost, worm castings..etc.... really cant burn your plants!! Also add things like azomite or excelerite (didn't check spelling) to get your trace minerals in there! also oxygenate your compost tea directly by using a burlap bag ( not small but not big), insert all your ingredients in the burlap bag along with the air stone (go with over kill on this part rather than not enough) and then have one air stone in your bucket... If you use a air pump that will do 45 liters per min then you will be helping produce tons more microbial activity!! Happy brewing and hope this info helped!!

I have been making compost tea for a few years now with great results..Worm castings being the main ingredient, kelp, molasses, liquid fish. Now what I am wondering is sometimes I think by putting more ingredients in the solution the better, Can I overdose my tea and hurt my plants by adding extra doses of the ingredients i listed? Also how long can your water sit without air after brewing before it is unusable? I know it can go anaerobic and actually kill plant's.

My worms are great but I have a quick question. I used the worm casting in a sock and made up a 55 gal drum of worm tea with blackstrap molasses, rainwater, and a constant bubblier. Over the last week everything has been great but today the water has turned black with a slight smell to it. Will this harm my plants?

Use one of those salt water weights that you use for fishing. They are silver and egg shaped. That will hold down the bubbler.

Hello Mlgardener, Thanks for sharing your info. I have a question for you. I made some worm tea, and only let it sit for 30 hours. I did not see any foaming occurring with my batch. I want to know if I should brew the tea for a longer period of time? I am using worm castings, two air bubblers, un-sulpherated molasses, and rain water. Also, do you know if there is a way to test to see how potent your batch might be? Thanks for any info you could provide.

Hey MIG, I made some worm tea with my newly made worm castings. I am brewing in a 5 gallon bucket. I added worm compost (a few handfuls and added 1 cup of pure sugar). About 3 weeks later the bucket is foaming like a beer (6 inches of head). The foam is very soapy. It is very viscous (pancake syrup). It smells like earth. I put it on my plants and they are DARK GREEN after one day. Do you notice your tea becomes very, very thick?

Great video. Getting a 'cleaner' compost is about impossible for most of us, I should think - certainly that's my case. I feed my worms just about everything, plus the worm bin is outside in al the elements. That's just out of necessity mainly. I wondered what you might think about the use of a muslin bag for filtering or some other filter mechanism? I know it's going to keep back some of the goodness, but if it filters out bug eggs, etc, surely some goodness is better than nothing? I know my plants have done well with worm compost tea but I have wondered about the bugs and blight etc.... What do you think about filtering the compost tea? Many thanks for your time to post videos and share.

Good video and explanation, Luke. I try to filter my tea by putting the "ingredients" in a sock or panty hose or cheese cloth or other "filter" mechanism so that the solids don't clog my dispersion method. When we finish the hoop house, I plan on using a drip irrigation system with a fertilizer additive, such as compost tea, worm tea, or fish emulsion. The small orifices in the drip emitters can easily get clogged, so filtering out the solids can add extra life to a drip emitter system.
@MIgardener
@MIgardener 10 лет назад
I thought about that exact same thing, but I then decided I would put it through a back and forth sprinkler instead. The drip is nice, but doesn't get the leaves. I want everything to be covered in this goodness!

Sup Ryan, doing great thanks! Haha, that must have been some time back now, I've since given up on the idea of using RU-vid to gain traffic and with all the research I've done on other matters, it's hard to keep track of all the techniques used for a particular thing (stoner memory). I recall a site called Addmefast that works pretty well but can be a bit of a bitch at times. The best advice I can give at the moment is to research, "SEO" and "Natural Traffic". You want to avoid those who have set up fake social media accounts just to get points to get traffic to their own shit. Also, keywords and Meta Data, use them! Google loves those and RU-vid is well integrated into that. Matter of fact, read the following article where I summarized some stuff in a YT video linked in that article. my.wealthyaffiliate.com/steevo/blog/fabulously-free-functional-seo-tools
