Now That's A Homemade Sweet Potato Pie!! Beautiful Sweet Potato Pie - You Making In Your Video.. Merry Christmases Christmas 🌲 ☃️ To You. Keep Them Delicious Video's Coming 🍴🍴.
My great-grandmother ALWAYS pre-baked her pie crusts a bit in the oven to get rid of that raw taste. Now, every time I bite into someone's sweet potato pie, I can tell when the pie filling went into a raw pie shell. Pre baking the crust makes a positive difference as taste is concerned!
As a baby boomer, I remember the times of peeling sweet potatoes, mashing the pulp, seasoning the pulp (nutmeg, sugar, etc), helping making the pie dough from scratch (yeah, flour, eggs, shortening, etc), rolling out the dough with a rolling pin, putting in the filling and lo and behold, a pie. And also help make banana puddings and pies and peach cobblers. Miss those days of being in the kitchen .with my mother.
Yesssssss! Finally someone else who BAKES the sweet potato!! That is a good pie. Pointer guys from the mouth of a caterer NEVER boil that potato! Bake it all the nutritional value most importantly TASTE Is everything. 😉
I never understood why people would boil their sweet potatoes. I simply cut mine up clean them and place them in a pot with all the spices and butter ( NO WATER). Place on low and let them cook. Potatoes makes it own water.
After making hundreds of these pies, I’ve developed the ability to tell what a pie tastes like just by looking at it…..and I can tell that yours are delectable
This video is everything🙌🏾 from you picking the potatoes out at the store to showing us the different textures after letting the pies sit depending on length of time and after storing it in the refrigerator for a day😊 very detailed video thanks
Most recipes leave out the *allspice.* My mom's side of the family **always** used allspice in the mix, as well as nutmeg and cinnamon. I can use your recipe as a guide for putting something on paper which is close to my family's. Thanks for sharing! ♥
Thanks so much! My mom sometimes did the same, she said we were in her way lol smh. I learned to cook a lot of stuff from trial and error 🤷🏾♀️ I hope you subscribed, I have a lot of good videos coming up. Have you ever made a banana pudding from scratch? I have a recipe you'll love...
Great recipe. Thank you! I shamelessly used a graham cracker crust and the family finished it off in one sitting. A citrus infused sweet potato pie is surprisingly comforting in June when we are all indoors because it is flooding outside during our rainy season.
I’ve watched close to 10 different videos on this subject and yours was the only one that came closest to how my mom made hers. So I’m gonna try this recipe thanks. Oh the only difference is I’ll use orange juice instead of lemon.
When you said "struggle no more," you meant that! Came out perfectly. I cut the pie a few hours ago and it's basically gone... and no, everyone hasn't tasted it yet and they likely won't this go round lol. Thank you!! I actually forgot to add the butter, but it is still delicious!
Great for 1st timers!! I've never baked my own pie & was a little intimidated. I used this recipe and my pies turned out DELICIOUS! The flavors and texture were perfect!! I just replaced half n half with Carnation evaporated milk & left out the lemon (I know u said don't but I'm not a big lemon fan) ... perfection! Thanks!!
My grandmother taught me to boil the potatoes. Baking seems like a good idea. Lemon juicd and flour are two ingredients I've never used. Im slways looking for new ways to make things. Im going to give this a try.
I've never made a sweet potato pie, but have been thinking about it for a while. I have trouble growing pumpkins, but I can grow sweet potatoes. Thank you for the recipe, it looks good.
I no longer have my mom's recipes and I vaguely remember when I would help my mom make Sweet Potatoe Pie. Your recipe looks close to my mom's recipes she had from my great Grandma. I'm going to try it. Thank you! 🖤🖤🖤
Great video. Looks yummy. Our family recipe is similar however we use sweetened condensed milk instead of Hal and half, ( more brown sugar and little to no white sugar) freshly squeezed orange juice instead of lemon and gram cracker piecrust instead of the regular pie crust. I think for my pies this year I’ll try freshly squeezed lemon juice. Thank you 😊
This is exactly how I make my pie. So I know it taste good! I don't know why everybody is so confused about why she put FLOUR in her pie. if you like the recipe then just don't use flour and go eat your mushy pie otherwise if you want your pie to hold BETTER then you better use a little flour! I mean really it ain't rocket science
This is my moms recipe without the flour. My pies are never mushy. The key is to bake until brown . I've had too many people to request my pies for $$$ , wish I had that energy to sale more, I do only a few .
Ma’am, thank you for sharing. This was my first attempt at making any pie of any sort, ever lol, I randomly had a taste for a sweet potato pie and decided to give it a shot. It is so good. I am honestly impressed. Thank you so much!
You're 100% right about the deep red, rounder potatoes being sweeter! They are a different variety, in a side by side taste test, or entire family decided that variety (Beauregard) was sweeter and nuttier than the longer, more pale type.
This looks delicious. I've always wanted to try to make a sweet potato pie. Thank you for the detailed instructions. I can't wait to try this but I need to stop at the store to get a few more things first
Mine too it's my favorite I wish I saw her recipe yesterday my phone wasn't working right and my family was mad I had to go out and buy some sweet potatoes I can sweet potatoes and my sweet potato pie turned out good my daughter had a screaming fit because what I did with you so I I threw it in the garbage it was watering found someone else recipe but this one here I'm going to use her recipe but we had a sweet potato pie and it was delicious I'm glad to see that this recipe
When you said you baked the sweet potatoes, I knew you're the real deal!! I don't know why some many ppl boiled the potatoes. My grandma always baked hers.
This is the same ingredients my mom taught me to use, with the exception , we pre baked our crust a little and we pre boiled instead of prebaking our sweet potatoes n we never used flour.
Add extra vanilla, love the aroma, I always pre- bake my pie crust. I make great pies. I am ready to bake some sweet Potato pies for Thanksgiving.. Use a fork and press down and around the sides to keep the crust from swelling. instead of the beans. Put the pie filling is when cooled.
I'm making this now and my mix is so frickin good it'll be lucky if it makes it to the oven...Thanks for the share.. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family..Enjoy!!
Girllll I made mines Tuesday night, I ate a slice the next morning and I just shook my head. It didn't MAKE NO SENSE for my pie to taste so darn good lol! Glad you enjoyed and Thanksgiving ☺️ 🦃
Hey The way you did this Pie tutorial is the exact way My Grandma showed me. She was a Georgia girl that can cook & bake anything. Most importantly she knew how to add all those ingredients without measuring utensils...Thanks for sharing. I've been baking sweet potato pies for at least 6 years strong now. My family says it reminds them of Grandma's same Pies...
