HELLO EVERYONE!! Today I’m sharing my own way of making a sweet potato pie just in time for the holidays. Hope you all enjoy this recipe. Love Y’all ❤️
Southern Sweet Potato Pie
Ingredients:
2 Cups Baked or Boiled Sweet Potatoes
1/2 Cup Evaporated Milk
1/2 Stick Salted Butter
1 Tablespoon All Purpose Flour
2 eggs
3/4 Cup Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1/2 Teaspoon Lemon Extract
1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1 Teaspoon Ground Allspice
1 Deep Dish Pie Crust
Preheat Oven
Bake @350 Degrees for 1 hour 10 mins.
Let pie completely cool before serving

Thanks for posting this, my mother never wanted me to learn how to cook (I guess she thought I was gonna marry a rich man), I went to another state to college and bout starved to death and then moved to Detroit and fell in love with a broke man that taught me how to cook (we've been together for 29 years). He loves sweet potato pie so I will make this for him.

Happy Thanksgiving all!! I made this recipe last year and it'll be the recipe I'll use until I can't cook any longer. I can now show my daughters how to make a sweet potato pie correctly😊. I add a bit more sugar for our liking. This recipe is perfect! You can't go wrong.

I have been trying to duplicate my grandma sweet pie recipe for years and it always was missing something. But thanks to you from the bottom of my heart your recipe is the closest to my grandma! This looks like the kind of sweet potato I love!!! OMG!! My mom usually does the baking and I do most of the cooking, but this year she has onset dementia so I'm going to try my hand at some of the baking this year! Hi, Ms. Brenda Dee! This sweet potato pie turned out great! I like that you used a combination of vanilla and lemon extract: I think citrus goes well with sweet potato. This had the right amount of spice, too--speaking of which, I need to cook with allspice more. I liked how the filling was a bright orange--in other pies, sometimes the filling is more brown, but this pie was a beautiful orange color. Thanks for this great recipe, Ms. Dee!

Love the song. I’ve been cooking pies since I was a kid. My mama taught me. I love the little hints you gave and I am going to try them. To tell you the truth Ms Brenda, there was this bakery called Peoples Bakery. Their pies taste like mama baked them. So for a time an old girl always orders from Peoples. But they closed after years of service to the community, so I have to make my own pies again. Thanks for the tips❤😊😊😊

Mrs Dee I’m going to try your recipe; you did a good demonstration; my pies an avoid 😮the milk cause it is gassy and I avoid the allspice ! Cos I never bake with allspice, I only put I extract that’s the vanilla! My pies are delicious! !!

I use a food processor and puree my sweet potatoes, prior to makinng my sweet potato pies or sweet potato xheesecakes, No lumps or strings and even a baby can eat them because they are pureed, Hope this helps.

Your recipe is almost identical to my dad’s except he uses nutmeg instead of all spice. I use to help him make the pies but when he put all the ingredients in, he never measured anything. Always did everything by taste. I actually like to measure my ingredients and add more to taste if needed. I had been searching many recipes and decided that I’m going to use your recipe. It’s hard to find a sweet potato recipe that has flour as that what my dad always added. I know this is going to be good!
