In this video, I take you through the process of creating a traditional Teabowl on the potter’s wheel. Watch as I first throw the cup using 220g of dark stoneware clay, rich in grog, giving it a beautifully textured surface. Centering the clay, opening the form, pulling up the walls, gently altering the shape for an organic and natural feel.
In the second part, I trim the leather-hard cup the next day, refining the form and adding final touches. Finished bowl will have a white porcelain slip in the interior and will be fired raw (without any glaze outside).
