I've been wanting to make my own decorating cake stand. for the life of me, I couldn't figure out, how to attach the square metal piece. so glad I found your video. thanks
I've ever seen so many Ryobi tools in one place. Nice video. I was thinking about making some sort of clock for my back patio, and this video convinced me to make it look like a whiskey barrel! I'll use dowels to connect the boards though.
djAnakin Hey DJ! The clock for the patio sounds really cool! I'd love to see it when you finish up :) Yeah dowels or biscuits would work great as well. I sort of had an influx of tools recently, not sure where to store 'em all yet! Cheers - Pete
Hi Pete, I really like how that turned out, especially the "Mark 2" with the wider base - it looks more substantial. One think I wondered - at 0:42 I can see there is a metal ring on the bottom of the plywood - just curious what that is? Real keen to give this one a go!
Tim Elley Hi Tim! Thanks for the kind words. --- The video at the 42 second mark is of a real barrel top that a family member bought a few years ago. It has a larger lazy susan. --- And actually I was picking up a few things today at ace hardware and they had a 9" lazy susan ring. So instead of building it the way I did, I would look to see if you can find the larger lazy susan. Then you might not even have to do the piece of plywood on bottom. Let me know how the project goes Tim. Cheers!
+DIY PETE I made a Lazy Susan for my wife for Christmas. i went to Lowe's and they had two sizes of cut 3/4" rounds and used the mechanics I bought at a local wood working store.
redriver08 Thanks, yeah it's a little slim picking for royalty free music through youtube but I'll try not to use that one again :) Actually found a new source for music so will be using that more often. Yep, I am definitely a flyfisherman, are you? Cheers - Pete
The Minnesotan Woodworker LOL :) Hope all is going well in Minnesota! Been cheering on the Twins and went to a couple games out in Seattle a few weekends ago. Where are you at in Minnesota? Cheers!
ya, sadly the twins aren't so hot his year :(... I'm just west of the twin cities, out in Minnetonka, wish I could move maybe a little more north in the countryside or something. also thanks for the response pete!
The Minnesotan Woodworker I have an older brother that lives in the Twin Cities so I get there quite often. Yeah the countryside would be nice for sure. Hope all is going well!
